Anonymous, 24 May 2020Apple's long-term software support policy is a giant scam that ppl continue to fall for. SMH. If that's a scam, then OEMs that updates their flagship devices through only 1 major Android update is outright murder?

Anonymous, 24 May 20201 question . How much is iphone 8 resell value now ?I'm not sure but the minimum selling price is about sub $300 in my opinion. Price when new was around $700.
Anonymous, 24 May 2020bs, you didn't even give a reason why you think it's a "scam", because it's notThe 5 year update system of iOS is a giant scam. You get latest features 5 years late on an average. Android is light years ahead of iOS in terms of functionality, customizability, security and ease of use. Android from 5 years back can do things that current iPhone can't.
The upcoming iOS 14 will finally get an app drawer and fully functional widgets, Lol these are things that existed on Android a decade back.
Plus with every subsequent update, your battery and cpu are deliberately slowed down by Apple (Yes, they are paying fines for this malpractice) whereby one is forced to upgrade after a few years.
As for security patches,
Unless a group of hackers specifically target you using the security hole or vulnerability (if it exists) which is not fixed through a security patch, you have nothing to worry about. The likelihood of such a thing happening is 0.00001%.
Ppl and several businesses used Intel chipsets for years without issues despite the Spectre & Meltdown vulnerabilities. As I said, unless a team of hackers specifically target you exploiting that security loophole, you are safe.
So lack of security patches don't affect the end user much in the real world.
Ppl continue to fall for marketing gimmicks where they feel if they don't have the latest security patch, they are vulnerable or worse the phone becomes unusable after 2 years. These are the same people that can be hacked using a simple phising link and they are worried about vulnerabilities in the system that are less likely a threat.
more crap on the phone less value

Anonymous, 24 May 2020i think i will buy the new SE because android brands no longer give me compact options. i used... moreThe Google Pixel 3a, the upcoming Pixel 4a and the Samsung Galaxy S10e are not that much bigger.
Those are the closest to the iPhone SE 2020 right now. But yeah, the Pixel 3a and S10e are from last year.
I don't like the look of the Pixel 4a though. I wish that Google would just make a Pixel 3a 2020 revision with faster CPU and memory -- and a SD-card slot for storing images.
Phone prices are falling so fast that it's pointless in paying full price for anything nowdays.
Price doesn't matter as long as it is worth it. Any phone staring from 400 dollars is enough for everyday usage unless you are heavy gamer. You don't need to pay over 1000 dollars. For example I will keep my S6 Edge which I've got as a gift. And save over 2000 dollars to buy a great new laptop.
I will spend what the next smartphone on minimum 7 inch will cost, if the specs is okay.
Brand... I could dream of a Huawei, but honestly I really don't care, just not Apple.
Until this day comes I goes with my Mate 20 X, it still works like da 1 when I bought it in December 2018, no lag, no bad thing at all.
Still runs like a darling :-)

ponk87, 24 May 2020Probably between 400€ - 600€ because I feel at that price you get everything you need and also... moreThe same for me, that is why I do consider Pixel phone in the future. I would prefer something smaller as Sony Compact, but no one makes those phones any more. Single camera for A series? I don't care much... It will most likely be my next phone as I do prefer clear user experience and adjust it the way I want afterwards, if I feel the need for it,,

Anonymous, 24 May 2020Generally you get what you pay for . Buy cheap and buy again in a year or so...With android and no custom ROMs, yes
With apple or android flagships + ROM, no
Probably between 400€ - 600€ because I feel at that price you get everything you need and also be a bit future proof especially since I keep my phones for about 3 years if not more. I am prepared to pay more but I really have to believe that the extra money spent will make for a much better user experience.
£200 max, great cubot fan,not worried about egoes, bought the Samsung note 1 and 3 all them yrs ago, totalling 1,300 pounds GBP and wasn't impressed, but there you go,my cubot p30 does everything ineed and cost £129 in sale ,

Yes iphones get updates for longer but as Apple users always say quality over quantity.
Their updates are always sent out in much more beta gotten requiring weeks or months of multiple following updates to stabilize. And the are generally playing catch up on their final update to features Android has out of box.
Not to mention it wasn't even until the 11 they started putting better quality antennas in. But it's that "quality" you're supposedly paying for.
Also the place that did a lot of antenna strength result found that a lot of the devices with weaker antennas had worse radiation output.
