No not the product
I honestly have ... moreThe when will it be released sentiment, not just yours as it's all over the net, is mostly a Jobs conception of how to sell a phone/tablet. Apple gets the announcement-release to a week because they do not rely on another company for chipset, cpu & gpu. Even Samsung can't do worldwide release that quickly because they have to share Qualcomm's production with everyone else using Qualcomm (US). Rest of the world they use their own internal parts.
Phones/tablets is the only place in tech in which there's an expectation of release immediately after announcement. Think of all the products; desktops, laptops, tv's, washing machines, etc.; announced at CES each year that don't go on sale until 3-4 months later and sometimes 6 months later. But the internet does not cry out over this. I'm still waiting for the MSI GS66 config I want to be released. Using Sony TV as example, announced early Jan - starts to be released early Apr. & mostly everywhere else the next month.
Sony is simply sticking to the same schedule they have for everything else they sell. Announced Feb - starts to release May will be released mostly everywhere else the next month. I fully expect to have the phone before the end of Jun.
I saw the xperia 1 ii video on youtube and they say this is sony alpha in a phone. What a gimmick. Anyway, i still want it, because of the design. But motorola edge+ also as good as sony in term of design. The only 2 phone i think special these days
Fearghast, 22 May 2020Freebie and preorder bonus is quite the difference and WF-1000XM3 are certainly not worth not-... moreMe personally, I've never purchased a phone based on online reviews. The reason being, there is always a bias presented. Never just giving the straight facts. I'll watch them, but final decision is made when I showroom in Best Buy. Current phone is XZP, so I'm due for a new phone and this returns to the boxy shape I prefer.
dbjungle, 22 May 2020Huawei P9 launch was $530 and Galaxy S7 launch was $750. That's a pretty big difference imo. ... moreS7 was better than P9 at everything by far.
It was also better than P10 too.

Chinese people prefer local brands.
Japanese people like Apple and local brands.
People in South K. buy Samsung, LG and Apple.
Sales mean nothing if you do not make money on it.
Someone can sell 100 for $200 and earn $40 per unit, while you sell 20 for $800 earning $300 per unit.

That's a pretty big difference imo. This was late 2016. Now by 2019 they're charging close to the same price, but that was my point. They grew market share by charging less for more. It's the blueprint to growth. Samsung, Apple and Huawei dominate the premium market. Everyone else flops consistently when trying to put a premium price tag on a product.
kgibbs29, 22 May 2020I don't own them. So for me, it would be a good pre-order bonus or freebie item. Only thing ... moreFreebie and preorder bonus is quite the difference and WF-1000XM3 are certainly not worth not-to-wait for proper reviews before buying this device.

You have t... moreI'm pretty sure they sell in China just like how Sony sells in Japan or LG in Korea. You can look up online, OnePlus 7 Pro has made up super miserable 0.1% of total Tmobile sales in US. Here is the catch, by the amount of youtube time and typed characters by US blogs and influencers and zero day reviews you would think that OnePlus is the third best selling flagship after iPhone and Galaxy S. OnePlus will not be selling the 8 Pro in US on any carrier nor it will be available in any store for hands on experience, only two official retail channels their own website and amazon. Even Xperia 1 is available inside Best Buys and on many other retail websites besides amazon.

They always kept their level with Samsung in regards of pricing, say Samsung sold a phone at 200$, Huawei sold theirs at 190$, Samsung sold a flagship at 800$, Huawei sold theirs at 700$, and so on.
They got marketshare because people got bored of seeing Samsung everywhere, and also, Samsung was releasing a lot of really bad midranges and low end devices in that time frame (2014-2016).
From that list, I can only give Xiaomi the pass of having been a price conscious company and selling cheap devices with good specs at least.

OnePlus sales continue to grow year to year. You have to keep in mind they started as a boutique brand that sold next to nothing. They've grown from that. They're not one of the biggest players in the market, but they're growing instead of shrinking.

Anonymous, 22 May 2020OnePlus is the fastest growing brand? Not in sales but in marketing tens of millions of dollar... moreSome ppl wromgly think OP sells like 10-15 million.
Probably not even 3,5.
They are the last of BBk sisters.
I can't to buy this phone 5 years later ;)

Not in sales but in marketing tens of millions of dollars spent. OnePlus bleeds money just like Sony, just like Pixel, just like LG, just like HTC. OnePlus as independent business would last as much as Essential and even that would be a miracle considering they spend a huge amounts of money on advertising that is not generating sales in western hemisphere.
Big Battery Boi, 22 May 2020Well, the Japanese are notoriously horrendous when it comes to marketing and outside-of-Japan ... moreTruly, Huawei haven't even got phones here before and was streaming one hell of ads. But they also bring quite a hw satisfaction, no 2x zoom years after P20.

I heard the price was wrong so sony told them to remove the price. This was on androidpolice.
Sony!Sony!Sony!!!
Why announced in February yet to be released in May?
Why not do both in May?
I have been waiting for ages.
