Anonymous, 27 May 2020Let's hope they make it 5,7" - if not, we just have another 6,7" mid ranger - we have tons eve... moreIt's rumoured to be 6.4". I doubt they'll make it less than 6 inch, general population in Asia and especially in India do want large screens
Oh yes, budget-friendly with depth and macro sensors, i already know that history. But in fact not that they have expensive ones, those budget-friendly will cost what their previous flagship cost before... so not that friendly.
Now cheap and Oneplus doesn't go the same way
Let's hope they make it 5,7" - if not, we just have another 6,7" mid ranger - we have tons even now. All those samsung A-Series and "lite" phones. Im really fed up by those and the market it flooded already.
People bash OnePlus for their pricing strategy, but the thing is that over the years they've established themselves as a quality company that makes high quality products comparable to those of Samsung & Huawei. To do this, they had to use high quality components & do mass marketing of their products. All of that isn't cheap. They're no longer a budget brand. They've changed their company's motto, and that's fine.
Now that their company has grown even bigger, they can consider expanding their reach to all kinds of customers by offering budget phones again. This is where OnePlus Z comes in. I think they're doing fine.
I'll switch to OnePlus if they make a smaller phone (more the size of the non-XL Pixel) and they provide longer support for updates than Google.
Right now they do two years of Android version updates, plus a third year of just security updates. Somehow they claim that's better than Google, which is just classic marketing bull from OnePlus, since Google has always done three years of Android version updates and security updates.
Also OnePlus only updates every other month. Google updates every month.
And of course Apple provides updates for fiver years and even more on many of it's phones.
If OnePlus's motto is "never settle" then they need to step up their game a lot on updates, because right now getting for worse updates than you get from Google or Apple is definitley something I won't settle for.
Anonymous, 27 May 2020it was back then.. half the prices what the newest samsung phones cost then.. but then they go... moreWell, in the beginning they weren't known. So, they had low prices to make people buy their phones. After they established themselves and created a somewhat fan-base, they increased the prices.
Sadly, Xiaomi is doing the same thing nowadays. Just look how much a Xiaomi Note 10/Note 10 Pro cost in comparison to the last years models (Xiaomi Mi 9 or Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro).
Probably, the same will do Realme in 2 years.
The good part at least, is that Xiaomi or Realme gives us cheaper alternatives. One Plus does not. Hopefully they will come up with a very good mid-range device (low price and good performance).
I will get drunk and then I will go buy that One Plus phone, if it will cost maximum 350EUR and have good mid-range specs.
Maybe Apple has done some important thing with the pricing of the iphone SE 2020. And forced the other companies to reconsider their mid-range prices.
80$ Fortnite phone? :3
Rave, 27 May 2020Hold on, wasn't the point of One Plus devices to be budget smartphones with flagship specs? it was back then.. half the prices what the newest samsung phones cost then.. but then they got greedy.. today u can go to any tech store and buy oneplus like samsung huawei etc... before they were online only and could keep low prices.. but today? they are lame and overrated with their prices lol... xiaomi and realme/oppo so much better options imo...
Good decision. But they need to price it right otherwise Xiaomi will beat them in mid range category. But Mi 10 Pro is already better than OnePlus 8 Pro.
We want an affordable and COMPACT phone fom OnePlus. A 6.5" isnt compact. Look at Apple and Google in terms of high end phones on a budget that are COMPACT by todays standards
Hold on, wasn't the point of One Plus devices to be budget smartphones with flagship specs?
