They will have the same fate as Huawei has if their chips will be very good and strong like the ones on Huawei. Basically that's why Huawei was banned in the first place.

But... if Samsung/Huawei/MediaTek/others want to be recognized and sell better, they are obligated to improve their offerings to be a good option against Qualcomm "monopoly". Because, a simple trademark or "naming" does not mean quality to the customer, in this case, OEMs and customers like you and me. What happen if, for example, One+ decides to use the Kirin 990 or an Exynos 990, or and Dimensity 1000 in a next flagship, it sell better for the SoC used in question? Or sell better that the One+ 8 with SD865? Of course not. Or at least, not this time...

Anonymous, 30 May 2020Explain your concept, Mr. CorrectMonopoly means only one is dominating and others even if they try to compete can not compete at that level in flagship category I agree SD865 is the best but in mid range there are many great options like Mediatek Dimensity series which on specs beat SD765G and there is Kirin 820 too which is better (but it's exclusive to Huawei though) so Mediatek can compete with Qualcomm at mid range level but is unable to

Instead making it's own chip, why don't these companies (except Qualcomm) improve the existing Kirin chip, and use that in all Chinese phones. Less money involved and perfecting the almost perfect chip.?

Even though i hate custom chip developments which hurts the custom rom development and gcam ports like in case of Exynos and kirin , i think bigger brands like bbk should definitely work on it (atleast for midrangers) to end the monopoly of Qualcomm

it might be true that this can be their backup if anything happen in the future...

but my guess is because want to growth more and diverse their business .. if plan success and work... we might see, oneplus and vivo will use the same soc.

for us as customer ... it really good as long as it is on par with other soc.. benchmark does not tell the complete story ... for once, kirin might be slower than sd .. but huawei really optimized it with their own emui to give user a smooth experienced. .

exynos on the hand...hmmm... samsung just lazy.. downside of using 2 different soc for same model for different market.

Sharing and stealing are two different things and you're obfuscating the two. Chinese rules require foreign firms to partner with a local firm and share technology if they want to do business in China. The US have previously agreed to these rules. Now that China has become a technological rival, they suddenly think these rules are bad. So the US are hypocrites.
