Love the Community, 28 May 2020Did Oppo learn about Xiaomi Pinecone? They flopped big time. Don't add too much competition... moreUNISOC is made by speadtrum and xiaomi had shares in speadtrum. Xiaomi's move is strategic. USA wants to weaken Hisilicon but their knowledge and engineers will remain in CHina and at worst hisilicon will reborn elsewhere with a different name

I am tired of people making linear comparisons thinking outcome will be the same

The weather behind Xiaomi's own chips was more so about adventure and trial

The current weather is global political threat against the survivability of your entire business from the US....

Sigh people also think the outcome for Windows will be the same for hauawei's own OS which once again windows had no global political pressure...

Martin, 28 May 2020And what if Trump decides to put Oppo on entity list? No no, the more independent from the US ... moreI guess, thats a reason for this move, from the most known Chinese OEMs to unite (Oppo is under BBK, and BBK is second largest smartphone OEM with Oppo, vivo, and.. OnePlus brands. It seems, money is not a problem here, Huawei is No 1 in China, world wide 3-th, Xiaomi is second..
I bet, Qualcomm will work even harder now, and thats a good news, for as, users :D

Don't add too much competition on SoCs. Unisoc, Qualcomm, Mediatek, HiSilicon and Exynos are enough.

The real issue of USA and huawei is 5G, huawei was becoming the main and almost only player in the deployment of the main part of it, the infrastructure, almost all people think that the main business of huawei are the phones, but, no, it is not, ccp-huawei are really interested in dominating the WHOLE comunication business, the phones are a mere little tiny part, but is the visible face

Who's going to fab the SoC? As long as TSMC can be bent to the will of the entity list then it won't matter. Once Oppo is added to the entity list there would be an issue again. There's no valid solution unless there is a high quality fab like TSMC that doesn't care about the entity list.
