Anonymous, 01 Jun 2020Im glad oneplus disable this I hope they remove it completely.. so many pervert hereOh, grow up.
Manufacturer just turning off features on a whim (even temporarily, what's even the point then) is a new level of anti-consumerism and I sincerely hope EU investigates this bullshit

In all seriousness, it's a nice feature but not a deal breaker.

I have tried best phones every 2-3 months. findx2pro is not comparable. I do make a declaration it is on a another level on not 1 but couple of things.
I can lower end Android phones manufacturers making features available to their devices.

OnePlus lost the customers already after disabling the camera filter. Otherwise, 8 pro was truly one of the flagships and one of the most coveted smartphones in the mobile market.
Anonymous, 31 May 2020Does anyone have any idea about the availability of the 8 pro in india? Its uncertain because of the covid cases found in the noida branch of the company, where it was being manufactured, the factory has been shut down fr sometimes because of the same and there is no official statement from the one plus regarding how much time it will take.
Does anyone have any idea about the availability of the 8 pro in india?
How stupid is this. To sell people a useless camera and then when a use is found, disable it making it double more useless, but in the same breath regurgitating apple's fake mantra about space being precious with not having a headphone jack, which is a pretty much still a very usefull thing last time I checked. I thought about buying OnePlus, sadly I have missed it's best years and now this is just becoming a get rich or die trying company. Sad!
vrvly, 30 May 2020Can imagine the sales go down now.Exactly. Oneplus just have lost a potential buyer.
It's a deal breaker then. I was going to buy this phone just because that unique feature which no other phone has. Bye, bye Oneplus.
Don't buy the phone!
Why the hell are they even sending out OTA in India? Sale for Oneplus 8 pro has not yet begun and oneplus 8 doesn't even have an IR camera. Makes no sense. I guess oneplus is starting to make mistakes.
But amazing filter...X Ray
abubasim, 30 May 2020Your comparison of motorcycles and cameras makes no sense. I agree you wouldn't be buying a smartphone as your primary gear for infrared photography. But if you agree to the expression 'the best camera is the one you have with you' then you can see that there are times you are not lugging around a bag with your camera and lenses all the time and you still would like to shoot something interesting.
Zero, 30 May 2020But now as a consequence of One Plus, the professional cameras might be affected too.I don't think that will happen..smartphones are full of pointless, sometimes ridiculous even features..Mirrorless and DSLR cameras are products aiming at entirely different users..(vast) majority of them already have some amount of knowledge and experience about photography, and manufacturers (Fuji,Nikon,Cannon,Sony,Olympus,Leica..) simply cannot afford to sell BS,gimmicks,to the people who won't accept it.It's helluva lot easier with smartphones, you can sell anything for ridiculous prices:depth sensors,100x Space zoom(!?!),photochromic sensor, using multiple lenses at the same time simultaneously (for video) etc...
