Well, I have mixed feelings about this, first, 12x optical zoom is amazing !

But then the 120x zoom isn't that good, we saw what the 100x zoom on the Samsung did...

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra had a 4x optical zoom, meaning the image was 25 times digitally zoomed, but the CAS with his 12x zoom will comparatively have a 10 times digitally zoomed image, which is way better, so expect the 120x zoom of this phone to be way better than the 100x zoom of Samsung !

I still personally don't see the appeal of digital zoom, but this is sort of a step in the right direction, I think?

vivooneplusoppo4ever, 05 Jun 2020If you read the article carefully, it says it'll probably come with 12x optical zoom periscope... moreOh yes sorry. That comes to around approx 1 MP of final detail... assuming a traditional sensor and not quad bayer and all.

But yes, you're right about optics and quality of Mi in general. They're ok with low-mid range as they get run of the mill components and top it up with a nice pricing, so it becomes an awesome deal!
But at the flagship level, quality might suffer...

But I'm not sure about its camera performance because Mi is not very good at it at all. If you don't believe me, go check GSMArena's Mi 10 Pro review.

If we need a 120x zoomed 1 MP image on a 5x optical zoom setup, we will need a 576 Megapixel sensor... which is no joke.

Increase optical zoom to 10x and we will now need a 144 MP sensor for same result, more plausible.

Decrease target image to VGA (640x480), and things will be lot easier.

So, while its easy to digitally zoom an image, getting a useful one would be a challenge.... I hope Mi thinks about usability.

12 x optical zoom sounds amazing! If they indeed can make it happen then hats off to Xiaomi. Even 10x sounds great.

Andreidinutu, 05 Jun 2020Looks just like a motorola. Only difference is that they put the bubble below the three cameras...they put cc9 on the picture, not cc10.
no way u could hide 12x periscope in that old p30pro-shared chassis design.
will have the new rectangular camera bump of the new chinese-shared chassis.

The CC10 Pro it's confirmed so the Mi Note 11 will be released this year. But the leak talked about a 144MP main sensor with OIS. So "if" this is another variant... Then the Mi Note 11 with the its main camera plus the 12x optical periscope camera should be amazing, with NFC and 5G it's what i was expecting without pay a flagship price. If they maintain the microSD, IR and audio jack. I'll buy it for sure!!! Now waiting for it.

XYZx digital zoom, is the end result VGA or 3x4pixels? They upscale it anyway but should at least compare the amount of detail to some resolution or am I missing something...

RC255, 05 Jun 2020120x zoom is purely marketing gimmick. Same as Samsung's 100x. The ending image will be unusab... moreOk is marketing but no one is putting you to use that. From the leaks you have got 12 optical zoom => 120x hybrid zoom so that is why 120x exist. Is a gimmick don't use it but 12 x optical zoom sounds good.

Jakubko, 05 Jun 2020That's gonna be a Mi 10T/cc10. It's in line with last year's lineup of Miscc9? it doesn't even have a zoom. If you mean cc9Pro , then that is the same as Note 10.

Namelesss, 05 Jun 2020Consumers must really be asking for so much zoomThose people are only insisting on better-on-paper specs and couldn't care less about real world practical benefit.

It's all about bigger battery, smaller nm chips, higher zoom, more ram, bigger display, higher refresh rate, thinner phone. All wanted for a cheaper and cheaper price.
