It is another question what you prefer windows or MacOS, but it is irrelevant for this matter, most important is MacOS will run on beastly Arm processors and thats it is achievement of its own and headache for Intel

But not entirely sure about AMD cause those 8-core ryzen 40... moreRyzen will give great rival to the Apple arm processors and definitely will be on par or faster for now in 15watt cathegory, funny to see Intel so far behind, Apple will ditch Intel for good eventually and Intel are now in serious trouble to be in AMD shoes back from last decade.

JDK, 11 Jun 2020I don't know of your experiences, but for me, using a core i5 laptop(8th gen) is only slightly... morepeople are not educated, mostly here who comments they dont know hardware they think that arm is still in its infancy and if it runs on mobile devices it can't match intel more powwr hungry processors, but it is completely opposite. Intel is stuck with no progression in architecture in mobile ground while Apple used billions on R&D to push Arm based architecture past any intel offerings and now are far more capable processors when Intel can offer in lower power consumtion ground.

By hardware speed they can compete with any ultrabook lapop easely as ipad A12x chipset or whatever are beast, for example even many top of the end i7 4core 8 thread intel 45watt cpus from mid decade are on par or less capable when Apple chipset which runs only on like 5watt. The problem with ipads are their purpose. They are tablet with OS being used as simple tablet device, it is not hardware problem it is software problem and now Apple addresing that putting those beastley Arm processors with use of more powerful software full feldged Mac OS.

- Connect an exte... moreI don't know of your experiences, but for me, using a core i5 laptop(8th gen) is only slightly faster than an iPad in terms of browsing. And that iPad is from 2 years ago(and it's the regular iPad, not the pro).
I'm not trying to defend iPads. I'm just pointing out statistics(like it is faster than 92% of all laptops, or it scores higher than core i5s in geekbench scores, roughly the same as core i7s).
Remember, iPads have toned down versions of pro apps, so yes, they are slower. But if they were to run the same application, they will be simmilar.
Also Remember the ARM macs have 12 cores while the iPad pros have 8.

- Connect an external hard drive
- Run demanding editing apps like Final Cut Pro or Logic Pro
- Open multiple browser windows to be displayed at once
- Opening files from a real directory
- Allow some sort of easy upgrading (RAM or M.2 SSD with no adhesives)
- Run better gaming graphics with higher framerates
iPads aren't even comparable to laptops or computers, they can't be better because they aren't comparable. Keep trying to defend apple all you will want, but the iPad is just as expensive as macbooks. It is$1000 for 12.9" 128GB, +$300 for keyboard, +$130 for pencil, combined to $1430 which will go higher for storage and cellular. The Macbook Air is $1,000 and the Macbook Pro 13 is $1300. Really you are spending more for something worse.

Bad move from Apple, they should have gone with AMD Ryzen 4000 series. ARM chips with x64 will lose further game support than x86, and possibly even Windows modding. If you are a casual user, a pro user or a gamer, Windows is still superior in almost every way. MacOS is far behind, this isn't a preference.

This "laptop" only scores 17k on geekbench, actual high end full sized laptops have 16 core desktop chips. High end laptops have 128GB ram vs 6GB. High end laptops have 28TB storage instead of 1TB. High end laptops have an RTX 2080 Super. Even power efficient laptops beat out the iPad Pro. I'd bet if Apple released a sheet of paper for $6000 with the apple logo, you would still defend it iSheep.

Suddenly people bring up gaming as a weakness at MacOS when the laptops aren't even for gaming: they are supposed to be professional powerhouses or ultrabooks. In these cases, MacOS is usually stronger.
