Anonymous, 12 Aug 2020It was working for me for a couple weeks and now it’s back to just 1080p.For me it works only for HDR videos on YouTube, also when I installed iOS 14 beta on iPad Pro, I was getting 4K but next day it disappear, now all videos plays in 1080p on iPad Pro and on iPhone only HDR content plays in 4K. I was really enjoying 4K YouTube on iPad but now its gone. I wonder were you seeing 4K non-HDR content on iPhone ?
Anonymous, 11 Aug 2020This is fantastic, finally i got to playback 4k on my 11 promax 😍It was working for me for a couple weeks and now it’s back to just 1080p.
Anonymous, 06 Aug 2020Whatever. It’s the one thing, I have really missed since leaving android. me too . i only miss that one
That's weird, I'm on the ipados 14 beta 2 and I'm able to watch YouTube videos on 4k (2160p)?
LOL, 25 Jun 2020Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Watching super high res Youtube videos on your ... moreI use my iPhone to browse yt on the couch (much more convenient than using the remote for the TV) and stream yt with AirPlay to my TV. I definitely miss 4K in this situation (daily...). Besides such use cases, also watching yt on your phone would benefit from the better codec and higher resolution. Many other streaming sites support 2k and 4K am iOS and they do look superior to yt.
LOL, 25 Jun 2020Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Watching super high res Youtube videos on your ... moreSeriously who cares for iPhones and high res Youtube for them, this is a feature for iPads where it was lacking for years.
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Watching super high res Youtube videos on your phone is pointless, the battery drains rapidly and it consumes a lot of data.
Original-Jamaican, 24 Jun 2020GSMArena Arena makes it sound like 4K is standard on Android smartphones. I have had a number ... moreThat's a fair point. Android phones will only go as far as their display resolution supports it. The fact that some of these iPhones are doing full 2160p seems more like a bug than intentional feature. It's still in testing phase so it might go down to a more device appropriate resolution if it becomes final.
Shanti Dope, 25 Jun 2020And everyone is hurt of that? Wow such brittle feelings.

I guess my spider b$ sense was tingling.
So you are saying you can do better trash talk?
I Sony Xperia user demand it!
Anonymous, 25 Jun 2020Not really. Let's say you record the same scene twice. Video 1 is 1080p, while video 2 i... moreThat's because indeed 4K video is sharper (not significant) than 1080p. But to use the complete resolution of that 4K video, you need 4K display as well. Same people (not referring to you) who say they can't notice the difference between 2k display and 4k display and made fun of Sony 4K display, will say they can notice the difference between 1080p resolution video and 4K video. Funny.
Anonymous, 25 Jun 2020coz you've hurt the feelings of iphone lovers... they still can think they can watch 4k, real ... moreStill, Sony's brilliant Bravia X-Reality Engine greatly upscales low-resolution contents to 4K, so even that 1080p content on YouTube would still look far better than it would look on another ordinary 1080p or even a higher 1440p screens.
But what do they know? All they ever know is to hate when they hear Sony anyway, while also benefitting from the things they bring to the market (IP rating, super slow motion, Quad Bayer sensors, Qnovo Battery Charging tech, advanced software stabilization, etc.)
