Just bring the M8 2020 with 765G or whatever with a fingerprint and updated cameras. Same design same face same body
In my opinion HTC should go for a Flagship device to compete with the current market situation as there are lot of options for mid range and budget phones. More over HTC is known for Flagship Devices as it was once the king of Android. But some how due to lack of proper marketing it loosed it's position and now nowhere.

- perhaps, no tests yet
"Will take bettter photos."
- we have no samples yet, but isn't it a bit stretch to assume the HTC U20 will take better photos? I mean even on paper - Mi 10 youth has optical zoom while U20 doesn't, otherwise both have 48MP main sensors.
"No ads."
- can be disabled quite easily on the MIUI for most part
"And user data will be safe, something I do not trust with any chinese brand."
- I guess that's a fair point, even though many would doubt about data security on ANY android device.
But even then... Considering the U20 5G costs a little south of 500 eur (which is definitely possible considering the price they ask for Desire 20 Pro)... Would you be really willing to pay ~50% extra (or more) for similar phone, without amoled or telephoto camera, just for the sake of a questionable sense of data security?
I love htc
NOOOOOO
U11 Owner. No software support. Forget Android updates. Even no security updates.
Shame on HTC
good idea
BrendonF, 28 Jun 2020The problem is that you are comparing the HTC to a phone that is also probably not going to se... moreSince you're curious and gave me a great explanation with details (much appreciated in the world of online stupidity), I look at Huawei because I actually have been able to locate alternatives for most of their apps (Youtube Vanced with MicroG, Brave and Vivaldi for the Browsers, Swipe Pro for the Facebook alternative, Simple Gallery Pro for the Gallery [once all the photos and videos are imported. I understand I won't have them in Google's cloud but I can back 'em up on my own VPN server or Mega], Deezer/Rocket Music player for music, and Microsoft Lens along with Authenticator for those features).
If I have to, I know where to get the .exe file for the Play Store so that's not gonna be a problem anyway.
As an American, keep in mind that all Redmi/Mi Note phones are not options here because of the lack of necessary LTE bands. I kind of forgot about LCD vs OLED for the Sony. Had HTC gone with Sharp's IGZO display, I'd beg to differ with ya but we'd have to wait and see how that LCD panel fares.
YUKI93, 28 Jun 2020Lol please, not that MIUI adware crap.MIUI is great. Just disable all ads.
Ya, no thanks. HTC has proven that their software support is a joke.
Hope it has Super AMOLED Screen. Plus Glass back panel and aluminum frame along with dual 5G sim & dual Volt and UW (5G Utra Wide). Would make it an excellent phone.
CompactPhones5ever, 28 Jun 2020That's true, but... What does this phone has to offer compared to lets say Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth? Similar or better endurance.

Put on the shelves Mi 10 Pro, S20 Ultra and 11 Pro Max for same price.
Nobody you pick the xiaomi.
YUKI93, 28 Jun 2020Lol please, not that MIUI adware crap.It takes less than 5 mins to disable ads and even then you will only see ads if you use the built in MIUI apps. If you don't then you will see only the regular google ads and other ads.
Anonymous, 28 Jun 2020That statement doesnt make sense. You cant be in the top with a limited market presenceErr yes you can. They are at #5 in the world last year and they do cost cutting by having limited presence in different countries and manufacturing in batches which is why their handsets are priced very low compared to even other Chinese operators like Oppo and Vivo.

Anonymous, 28 Jun 2020You pay for whole phone, not cpu. CPU does not define price. That's true, but... What does this phone has to offer compared to lets say Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth?
Anonymous, 28 Jun 2020I agree about design.
Exactly like cheap phones from LG, Samsung, Motorola and chinese. The best designed 2020 smartphones so far:
P40 Series;
Honor 30 Series;
Vivo X50 Series.
I am not forgiving HTC for abandoning their 899$ HTC U Ultra flagship after only one Android Update..
