I am not Apple fan at all but bezels are way better than holes or notches. It provides symetry. Notch is ugly. Simple as that.
I simply don't get the point. A flagship smartphone should be a complete package. Yes, processor is almost everything of w smartphone. But if someone willingly underclock everything of a phone, the phone will never stay a good phone. It will be a shame. Actually, SE series was intended for the people who just needed a feature phone equipped with iOS. No midranger is now expected to have even a small notch but Apple sticks with bezels. Seriously?
Well then ,start reviewing all the small android phones out there. I have an SE, and it's too big. The original iPhone is closer to a great size, and I have an android phone of that size too.
They really missed it with this. If they had used the original SE case they could have fitted a fuller 4.7inch screen into it. They could have made it 0.5cm shorter too, and used a full faced screen.
I don't want to be seen with an large dated looking iPhone 6. The thing about the SE, is it was small and cute. Big plusses for the female market and small people. The iOS is just clunky looking too. What happened to Apple? The OS would look near perfection on an Apple 2 GS, maybe even in the early 2000's. But a this you must take our cane and eat it how we like it dictatorship by Apple and Android, is very ugly, it makes life difficult rather than comprehensively flexible in a dime way. I'm giving both OS's 2-3 out of 10 because of that. You got to think, everything an desktop is allows you to do but in a dime compact way. Pretty shortly phones will be able to foldout into tablets able to run desktop OS's, like windows on arm. What use will android or ios be then. A simple JavaScript mobile front end could serve phone functions when folded and a desktop is with little modification unfolded. Maybe microscoft could do this? But, a macos would be great, maybe a macios.
Anonymous, 28 Jun 2020I don't know why people bought it to be honest. The iPhones released at the same time were be... morePeople bought it because they wanted a small phone. At least that's why I bought it. In fact, I had the 6S, but when they released the SE, I pretty much immediately "downgraded" because the 6S was too big for me (and I had half a year to get used to it).
I now have the XS because of the much superior camera, but I'm looking forward to the rumored 5.4" iPhone 12 because even after almost two years, I still think the XS is too big. I don't even have small hands, I just much prefer smaller (and lighter) phones.
Just bought one for 50€ for testing. Super impressive phone. Still blazes through everything in my app. Which is really impressive.
It's a iconic design, But SE2 ain't that good.
Dometalican, 28 Jun 2020This is why the Android fans appreciate the Galaxy S10e. Super compact (being 18:9 ratio) with... moreI am also a large phone fan - I'm sending this on an A70 - who wishes smaller phones were more readily available.
I was an early adopter of "phablets" (I had a Dell Streak!) for accessibility reasons - I simply could not reliably use 3.5" touchscreens due to coordination difficulties - and for some other people today's giant phones are as inaccessible as those early iPhones were for me. Imagine a phone with this SE's dimensions but today's all-screen front. Even the S10e is over 15% longer.
You asking who's buying phones like this, I think there are people that are missing the small phones, phones that you could call phone not a f××× brick that is maybe 6mm thin but still looks like brick to me because how big it is, I bought this phone last year and I'm very happy with it, how small and comfortable it is and I think I would like change it for let's Say S20 ultra even if it would be for free.
The fact that a 2016 smartphone can still receive major software version update to this day is the reason why some people prefer Apple's simplicity. If I have a 2016 Android smartphone, I would be installing a custom ROM by now to experience the latest version. I wouldn't even dare to say if Apple is even doing planned obsolescence, unlike Android.
I do miss my space gray iPhone SE but I don't miss iOS. My SE got slower and slower that I couldn't even type any thing on Twitter's mobile site any more.
Best iPhone I've ever owned and the best design ever for an iPhone. But it may also will be my last. I love Android. I love the Pixel lineup. My mom gave me her old iPad mini 2 with the old A7 chip. If I wanted to iMessage, I just use that. I find iOS too restricting especially since I need a torrent app.
Bogdan, 28 Jun 2020What's the point of creating new software then? By your logic we all need to have now Window... moreLeave Windows out. I'm a PC Master Race member and I care about updates so I can get things like DX12 and other gaming stuff. For Android, you guys are over exaggerating and he's right. I love this community. This community is the most toxic piece of cr@pple I have ever seen. If they see a sliver of a phone not updating to the latest is crucified.
Not an Apple fanboy, but... That original design with sharp edges and round +/- buttons still makes me drool... They should bring back that design one day.

By your logic we all need to have now Windows XP and Android 7.0, because hey the PC still works on XP right? The phone still works on Android 7.0 right?
Of course, "The fox who can't reach the grapes, says they are sour anyway".

Just because a phone stops getting major Android updates, doesn't mean it stops working. You software junkies overexaggerate the importance of having the latest Android build.

Was? Ha, I bought a second hand one 1 month ago. Apart from the battery (because this was a 3 years old phone), this phone is amazing.
Latest IOS 13.5.1 on it works perfect. And it will receive IOS 14. It's like Samsung will put in 2020 Android 11 on a Samsung S7. Lol, that will be the day.
This is the important thing, that Android fanboys will not understand, you can easily buy a second hand iphone from 2-3 years ago (let's say iphone X, Xr or Xs) from specialized shops (with 1 year warranty) and have it for another 2-3 years. And it will cost a lot less than a new iphone. And you still have the latest software on it.
You can't do the same thing with an Android phone. Imagine buying in 2020, a Samsung S8 or S7..waste of money.
My wife has one and refuses to give it up even for brand new iphone 11 pro - simply being fact that it fits to o e hand and ecery pocket .. and purse ! I would swap my pro to 4.7'' even at half battery life zzZzz big heavy but need one and has good camera
So no , i do not shoe up with bigger .. i just need nimble device
This is why the Android fans appreciate the Galaxy S10e. Super compact (being 18:9 ratio) with a decent battery, nice screen, solid dual cam, headphone jack, stereo speakers, and expandable memory. The S20 should have been the same but with upgrades.
I think there's a niche to compact phones (similar to gaming phones honestly) and Android should have more choices (while Sony...sorta has one, it'd be nice to see Pixel, HTC with the M series, and even OnePlus come out with one every other year at least). I like bigger phones but I defend my brothers and sisters of the compact phone lovers in that they need choices!
Just read SD875 + 5G modem may cost $250.
Not even sure if licensing is included.
To be honest, this was Apple in their high-time. They offered a Small, Medium, Large phone... a perfect and clean option for consumers. However, their marketing and naming was simply confusing and illogical.
I personally would've changed their naming lineup like this:
2014-ish
(from) iPhone 5S ------------- (to) iPhone 5S
(from) iPhone 6 --------------- (to) iPhone 5M
(from) iPhone 6 Plus -------- (to) iPhone 5L
2016-ish
(from) iPhone SE ------------- (to) iPhone 6S
(from) iPhone 6S ------------- (to) iPhone 6M
(from) iPhone 6S Plus ------- (to) iPhone 6L
2018-ish
(from) iPhone XS ------------- (to) iPhone XS
(from) iPhone Xr -------------- (to) iPhone XM
(from) iPhone XS Max ------- (to) iPhone XL
2020-ish
(from) iPhone 12 -------------- (to) iPhone 12S
(from) iPhone 12 Pro --------- (to) iPhone 12M
(from) iPhone 12 Pro Max --- (to) iPhone 12L
...let me know if you guys agree?
