origon, 05 Jul 2020so 150 euros every 6 months so thats 300 euros per year so thats 900 euros per 3 years. And yo... morenew features every few months, imagine waiting years. at least I cannot. Dont have to be mid range though, I bought year old flagship for 1/4 of start price, but thats also some luck. Depends on what you need, as for me its hi res camera and hi res audio.

Never in my life would I have thought that the phone that will last me the longest will be a Huawei device. The hardware is incredible and the software doesn't get in your way, however they really only support their devices for 2 years and not a day more.

I would not change if not leaving/ smashing or having my phone stolen.
The hardware would be the only reason to change the phone since most of known phones can be rooted, custom rom can be installed and even newer than supported android versions ported.
That said, I would never buy a new phone wider than I can manage to grip (it must be comfortable as it is a smartphone after all), knowing that there are a lot of support from developers for some older compact smartphones, I would never upgrade.
Also it depends on every person. If I don't use heavy apps- I don't need such a powerful and expensive smartphone. Sorry if this makes no sense, alsmost asleep, need coffee.

My S6 Edge is still working. I think it will survive a bit more. Will buy a powerful Xiaomi after finding a job.

The main reason to change phone is battery degradation followed by ui and application lag. When upgrading, the immediate bonus is camera performance. Only this.

Because i am heavy gamer i charge my phone twice a day.
Using Moto X4 since its release day and still is in a brand new condition apart the battery.

I've been a passionate Galaxy Note enthusiast since the Note 3... and usually trade up annually. The only exception was the Note 5, which I boycotted for its lack of microSD card slot. I even went through TWO Note 7s and only gave it back when the recall became mandatory (and Samsung was going to cripple the phones). I either sell my previous phone or pass it to the Darling Bride, who then sells hers.

I can understand the need for a strong IP rating in your type of climate. But I would recommend a water resistant case for your phones (in addition to any IP rating), since your use case is extraordinarily wet.

I use S10/ROG 2 as my daily driver.
I have got my hands on pretty much every flasghip in the past 4-5 years.
I have no favorites. Every manufacturer brings something new to the table.
I know you are from that Sony Tr*ll group who simply can't handle the truth about features that Sony lacks.
Even after truth right there in front of you, you talk about physics or some other cr*p.
Giving weird examples like us believing gravity doesn't exist if some company says so.
We are talking from real world experience. You are simply basing your opinion while using cheap 100 dollar smartphone.
According to physics, how will battery degrade if heat is kept in check with VOOC??

anyway FYI, I am not in that group nor did I buy a 1000 bucks phone.

I am rocking my Huawei Mate 20 Pro for almost 2 years now.
Once my contract ends with our local TelCo here, I might upgrade.
So far, I don't have issues with my phone.
No burn-ins but a little bit of degradation in battery life.

Used to change more often, as I was in the mobile business before (got the phone from company)...
but now I feel that there is so much that need local configuration (login tokens, bank applications, electronic ID) that once per year change is enough.

Up until 2014, i bought every two years a new phone. Now i am still with my LG Optimus L9 II. The battery holds surprisingly well after 6 years of daily use. But now i am looking now for a new device. Probably a Redmi Note 9 Pro (eu).

Most of u just dont know anything about phone companies. They intentionally reduce the battery life of your phone Every updates so you can buy their new phones. Thats why i dont do update. It is a gimmick. Been using my phone for 2 years. Accidentally updated my phone. The battery sucks now!
