Technologist, 07 Jul 2020Folding inward is better and can protect the display for long timeYou don't have to unfold it ever time, you can use the cover display for simple things

Fine, but the front of the Fold is too slim. If Huawei is going this route they need to focus on the width of the front screen. Not the length. This is a major flaw of the current Fold and I'm not sure they addressed it on the 2nd Fold. The length is not that important if it's too slim to text.

You have to open and close the hinge every time you look at the phone. An outward folding phone can be used like a normal phone to quickly check messages and stuff.

Wow. Right after an article claiming that folding outwards was so much better and that the fold held no better durability for folding inward.....

The optimal will be when they can make a 360 fold and do either.

Personally I hope for a three part device that can be folded either as a "z" exposing one third or close in on it self like an "e" protecting all the display surface. But that obvioulsy would require one fold to be able to fold in both directions

Good, competition is always good. Now we just need some budget oriented brands to jump in as well.

Also good thing that even Huawei finally realized that outward folding + plastic screen = scratches everywhere. This folding option is dead end until they can bring better scratch protection.

Hey Alex95, didn't you nag us to death about how superior the outwards fold is?

Folding outwards will always be bad you can't protect a device like that

Letsgodigital makes such ugly renders. The only way the Mate V would work if it wasn't so damn wide while folded, otherwise it would be just like the Mate X, i.e. a tablet that folds out to another tablet.

Mate V is not a phone fold to tablet...
It's a tablet that fold to phone size.

Expected.
Outward foldables are very prone to failure.
