You are fighting over stuff that doesn't really matter. Performance? Battery life? Screen? They are all good enough. The fight should be about for example support (Sony has been one of the very best since Arc/Neo) or camera (there are better options for camera fans than Sony).
Shanti Dope, 12 Jul 2020Okay, I just checked and it was officially ended after almost 3 years, but that still counts a... moreSony clearly say they only support for 2 years... xperiacheck shows when phones get updates.. and they stop getting anything at 2 years. What model do you think got longer recently? Take G8141 for example... yes, the "47.2.A.10.107" update did get to some markets as recently as 4 months ago BUT that version actually started rolling out 10 months ago to most handsets, only a few operators took 6 months to actually roll it out!!

I was referring to the phone's 18w power delivery charging as 'fast charging'. I never said I actually wanted fast charging, or said I wanted faster charging. I just said 'it's nice'. Battery life is more my interest. And 83 hours (or even the 90 hours on my XZ3) sometimes falls short with the use I subject my phones to. Which is a bit of a bummer, since Sony phones make such excellent work phones.

You can see from xperiacheck which phones got updates... and things like the xz1 stopped last year, on it's 2nd birthday.

RGcloudS, 12 Jul 2020Sony indeed always release a perfect phone, with several "1st in the world" achievem... moreNo, more like they're only creating products that are different from the market so that people that are looking for different options will see their phones as the best alternative.
You can understand this since they're the only ones that still sticks true to the quality of 4K HDR screens that DO SHOW a major jump in quality compared to even a QHD, as well as the first one that's bold enough to return the headphone jack.
Samsung and Apple can be the main star or in the mainstream all they want to go, but Sony just wants to be the underdog that caters to the different types of users, so reviews from average consumers on Sony phones are really unimportant because their perspective is far different from what Sony is aiming, and unless they completely understand that, they'd just keep on spreading nonsense hate and fake news against them for being different or not satisfying their wants.
I know a lot of Xperia users who have always been happy with their devices, even those "badly reviewed" Xperia phones in the past were totally good according to those who have used them, which means it's not Sony, rather the society, who should understand the main target of their phones.
For such a price is a laughable charging times and laughable battery life. Sony is very far behind competition but still acts like it belongs to a big boys club, truth is Sony phones are mediocre at best and its been like that since it bought out from Ericsson. They can't compete so marketing is chasing gimmicks to be best in cathegories there makes no sense, like 4k display on a tiny screen, you will not see diference but marketing will brag in every sentence, same with camera features, software uses some fancy names but does same things as any other twice cheaper phone. They quartely performance all the time sums up a reality of Sony mobile division :)
Shanti Dope, 12 Jul 2020Who told you that it never had support after 2 years? The 3 year old XZ Premium are still rece... moreOkay, I just checked and it was officially ended after almost 3 years, but that still counts as "more than 2 years" since the phone came out in June of 2017 while the final support was at December of 2019.
Either way, this would also be the case with other OEMs. After more than 2 years worth of support, users are free to change their route and install custom ROMs, or if you don't bother keeping it, then it's still worth at half its retail price for resale, so I still don't understand what you're trying to say about value, as this is pretty much the case even with Samsung phones, and definitely much better than Chinese phones. Only iPhones can hold more than 60% of its value after 3 years because of iOS, but even that wouldn't be worth it as there will be other devices at the same price range that would be better value overall.
But sheesh! You're still spreading nonsense either way, and that's truly outrageous.

Even if they did lower the performance a bit, it would still be a great performer anyway, as SD865 is already overkill when it comes to running the most relevant and most intensive things on smartphones today. In fact even last year's SD855 can still be considered top tier. It's not like Apple who's secretly slowing older hardwares down to force people to buy their new products anyway, and definitely not Samsung that sells an inferior variant of the same model for the same price.

Besides, the slower charging speed and the presence of H.S. power control would extend the battery's health for much longer. Most people charge their phones overnight anyway, so why the need to cry about 30 minutes of full charging?
Either way, this is a great performance for a 4000mAh battery powering a gorgeous 4K HDR display that can be said the best in the market. There's a 5000mAh battery only powering a QHD display and still only got 87h endurance rating. I wonder what phone is that...

Bogus statements again for the sake of hating. SMH....
Glad to know I was right to hold out to see what either the Xperia 5 II or the Xperia 1 III(?) has in store. I've enjoyed Sony's legendary battery endurance for their comparatively smaller battery sizes, but the last couple generations have been a bit disappointing in this regard. The seemingly unoptimized external modem of the SD865 certainly doesn't do it (or the competition) any favors. Fast charge technologies are nice, but battery endurance is a bigger plus for me. Needing to charge your battery less often is better for your battery longevity anyway.
I had sony phones in the past.still own an experia Z2 as back up believe it or not its still running smooth.yes sony phones have huge bezels.yes they are not that a fashion icon like iphone or Samsung however one thing I am sure its the endurance and battery life.
PS: I do own a samsung s20 ultra snapdragon version.getting updates every month however battery life is going down and down.
The problem is a £1100 phone with no Sony support after 2 years & no secondhand value means WHO CARES ABOUT THE BATTERY LIFESPAN, charge it to kill it, you may as well.
Sony indeed always release a perfect phone, with several "1st in the world" achievements. but unfortunately Sony create smartphones only for their fanbase, they dont care about marketing and price. and showcasting their fancy technology in software either hardware. You love sony or you trust sony, you gotta buy their phones and spreading positive reviews everywhere. But the users are slowly vanished, their buyers are gone, their sales dropped a lot. But everyone still support sony even theyre not buying
Are the benchmark numbers the same?
I wouldn't be surprised if they quietly lowered performance on the "final" version for better battery life, while the early version had better performance.
