Android kitkat?
Government of India runs a comprehensive programme-"Make In India" to establish india as a global manufacturing hub for electronic goods.
1.......First phase of this programme:
Increase import duties on completely assembled smartphones, while import duties on components is still Lower.
Bcoz of this companies start assembly in india while importing components from china.
2.......Second Phase:
Increase import duty on simpler components that can be manufactured locally.
This move forces smartphone brands to start component manufacturing facility in india or use locally produced components.
3. Third Phase:
Increase import duties on more complex component like semiconductor chips, camera sensors, memory modules while helping & provide infrastructure to establish locally high quality manufacturing facilities to manufacture these components.
moumo, 09 Jul 2020It is Spreadtrum/UNISOC SC9863A with (4×1.6 + 4×1.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A55, PVR8322) That is still better soc than mtk g35, which have cortex a53.
AirY, 09 Jul 2020Really? Lava have R&D department? 😂Exactly there is not a single thing on this phone that needs r&d 😂😂😂
This phone is Assembled in india not made in india.
There is difference.
This phone like most of phones branded as made in india import readymade components from china & assemble in india.
Because its more beneficial to get components from china & assemble them indi rather than importing complete package from china (because of higher duties on complete package)
Last month the company announced "plans to shift" its production facilities from China. Hahaha..Iam patriotic bot not a idiot. If they cared about phones, they would had spent on mfg and r&d in India long time back before the Chinese brands invasion. Atleast they would have gained experience and have decent phones. All now they have is a Made-in-India tag line labelled on Chinese phones. I will still buy good-product-for-value-money irrespective of country.

Few questions about the claims by company
- how is it possible to start the production within days of announcement?? It probably seems like manufactured in some Chinese company and then stamped as Lava made in India.
- it doesn't want to disclose details of SoC, why?. Usually these brands use Spreadtrum SoC ( Unisoc, a Chinese company) that's the reason it doesn't want to disclose the name. Had it been non Chinese they would have shouted at top of their voice about its details.
- they don't want to disclose Android version, why?. It's obvious that it will be 9 or less.
This probably seems like they are trying to encash made in India spirit and get rid of their unsold stock of older Chinese made phones.
Lava had released its last phone in Jan 2020, named Z71 with mediatek Before that it was in March 2019.
I am an Indian and I understand that it's nothing to do with patriotism. It's just that Lava is riding the wave of made in India and make profits.
The phone uses a UNISOC processor. And that is a chinese one
Now the phone is available they move production to India. Why wasn't it moved before production?
Portrait mode with one camera? I'm curious to see how it performs cause even some lower mid range struggle with a depth sensor
I'm not sure, but that CPU looks like Exynos 7870 (8c/8t,8xA53@1.6Ghz, released in Galaxy J7 2016). But has shitty Mali T830 MP1 GPU.
"This will fit people wanting something small and cheap – the 5.45” screen makes the phone more compact than most."
The bezels are a problem here. It's basically same thing with e.g. Redmi 7A, which has similarly sized display, but due to large bezels it's about as big as Galaxy S10. I'm still longing for a bezel-less phone with 5.2" screen...
"However, the company doesn’t reveal which version of Android is running on the phone." - who cares? Important is to at least start when you press button.
