@all WP7 USERS........."WP8 APPS ON WP7"
well the launch of wp8 disappointed many current and future customers (like me) that wanted to buy a wp7.I was just to own a Lumia 900,800 and Omnia W for me,my bro n my dad,but the release held my breath n disappointed us.The reason behind it is the only thing "NOW NO NEW APPS FOR WP7 BECAUSE THE LATEST ONE WILL BE TARGETED FOR WP8 ONLY" eventually screen resolution, nfc, wallet, dual core isnt bothering us because they are of very much use in this buttery smooth OS (as of now).
The main thing is APPS FOR WP7 so i think we have to raise our voice to MS that please create apps for wp7 too that is made for wp8 (not all apps can be made but i think many of them can be) because WP7 AND WP8 have become a different platform now.If apps are continuously made for wp7 then i think there should be no problem for current users and futures users as well because if someone wants a new hardware at higher prices then he can switch to new wp8 phones but those who are using wp7 and those who are ready to buy wp7 at current prices with the same sufficient hardware then thay will be pretty happy too.
So please gsmarena help us to raise our voice to MICROSOFT.
The new windows phone 8 looks like more of hardware improvements and some software features directly depending on hardware.
But what exactly does 7.8 version has to offer ???
Well it makes sense that NFC related features may not be in the update ... but i want atlease these features in 7.8 -
1. 1080p video shooting, panorama, improved camera features
2. Skype integration
3. Full multitasking - including the background running of apps like Nokia drive
The most irritating thing they announced is that windows 8 apps wont run on windows 7.8 phones .... what the hell ?????
If microsoft can correct this ... then i am all good otherwise its a total disappointment and they were starting good in market and now they will surely die
This is outrageous, I tell you. I'm taking my silky smooth Lumia 800 back to the store tomorrow and replacing it with a mid-range android device that runs on software developed 2 years ago. Call me stupid, but I really enjoy charging my phone twice a day and keeping the display dimmed at 40%. Likewise, you just can't go past "features" such as applications crashing for no apparent reason or the phone slowing down if too many background tasks are running.
"a few other features that weren't explicitly mentioned."
it's mean no other features
what lol, 21 Jun 2012none of this would have happened today if nokia went with android. Today there would be a noki... moreThey don't want to be just one of the sheep. They may well get their wish by not being a sheep at all when they go bust or get taken over.
none of this would have happened today if nokia went with android. Today there would be a nokia capable of taking on s3 and xperia s and lg 4x and htc one x.....
but nooooo we cant use android cause it.s inneficient with two many cores...
...and now lumias are getting sacked cause they only have 1 cofe
but nooooo we cant use android cause we cant be unique in a sea of similar hpones...
...and now everyone else just got invited to make wp8 phones
haha nice strategy nokia...cutting the branch from under your feet.
@ pl3 that anonymous is me actually.
Don't know y my name did'nt show up.
AnonD-23574, 21 Jun 2012So let me get this right then. MS have told us for ages how bad everyone else OS's must be bec... moreI m not supporting MS on that single core issue.i think u do require multiple cores to run ur high end device with ur latest OS.Whoever said that multiple cores aren't needed had to eat his words wheather MS or Elope.
My point was as i already said that MS never said that wp 8 will have "lower requirements" than wp 7.5 as u told us.
What they said was that windows 8 and not wp 8(there's a diffrence between the two) would have same requirements as window 7(windows 7 for pc's n notebooks).
Fed Up With NOKIA, 21 Jun 2012I got the Lumia 800 at launch and i was told my the spotty kid at the phone store yes it will ... moreSorry but MS are more to blame than Nokia, as they have this imposed on them by MS. Nokia are fools for going with an OS that is a joke.
I think the reason for the upgrade not being compatible is that the kernel and the rest of the "core" will be the same as the new NT (2.0 maybe) one used on the new Windows 8 desktop platform which is completely different, as well ad faster and more stable than the current Mobile CE core used on the current.
Therefor it appears that the new core is just to different to work on mobile devices that were not designed for it without a compromised boot-loader etc. but it might also just bee that Microsoft will be saying this (they haven't officially given a reason yet) just to generate sales of new devices.
It might be plausible though because all the other mobile OSes have never really changed to another kernel during an upgrade the mostly receive top layer updates and just minor kernel bug fixes at the most and the for ability to allow this much chance you would then need a PC like boot-loader etc. which isn't nearly as secure as those on mobile phones (except (especially unlocked) androids).
I'm guessing this is what Microsoft will say even though I think it's probably not true.
boosook, 21 Jun 2012Then you should tell me why wp8 is not released for the current generation of wp phones: eithe... moreIt's all about optimisation mate.as u would know that if desire c would've been running gb it would never have seen ICS but ICS was given onboard on it.all hardware specs of desire c are almost identical to explorer with same s1 600 mhz arm v7 cpu n 512 mb ram.forget explorer galaxy w with 1.4 ghz s2 scorpion processor or galaxy ace 2 with 768 mb ram n dual core cpu isn't upgradable to ICS.
U can expect the phone with lower specs than lumia 900 having wp 8 onboard in the coming time coz it'll be better optimised for it.
AnonD-56684, 21 Jun 2012And i seem to recall that it was for windows 8(for pc's n notebooks that run on intel x86 chip... moreSo let me get this right then. MS have told us for ages how bad everyone else OS's must be because they cannot run well on single core devices and what a waste of time mutliple cores are and that WP doesn't need them when all along they knew WP8 would need them?
I got the Lumia 800 at launch and i was told my the spotty kid at the phone store yes it will get the new windows 8 update... now i'm disappointed in Nokia, Microsoft and that con-man ELOP because they have all left me with over a year to go on my contract and a phone that will get no new apps. As wp8 will get all the new apps, games etc and we're left with a phone that lived and died in less than a year. thank you very much NOKIA
AnonD-23574, 21 Jun 2012I seem to recall MS telling us WP8 would have the same or lower hardware requiremenst than 7.x... moreAnd i seem to recall that it was for windows 8(for pc's n notebooks that run on intel x86 chip) not wp 8 or windows RT(that run arm processors) and they didn't said that it would have "lower requirements" it was the "same requirements" as windows 7.
wp 7.5 is a very basic mobile OS.how could wp 8 with much more features have the even low requirements than wp 7.5?
and btw they r true to their words.my old hp pc that had windows xp onboard with 1gb ram and intel core 2 duo processor n now runs windows 7 nicely is legible for windows 8 update for $ 15 when it's available.
i think the main reason that current wp devices dont support wp8 iz bcuz of limited hardware issues such as screen resolution, 1.4 gigz single core processor is enough but some features of wp8 are not able to run on current architecture therefore those feature are able to run on current supported archtechture is already being provided as 7.8 UPDATE, wp8 iz planned to be more gpu intensive, etc. But these all limitations are bcuz wp8 has to comply with itz desktop sibling w8 due to shared core and ms has planned that most of the games available on pc should be available on wp8 dats y i said its gpu intensive, but one things for sure if this happend wp8 will b a gr8 hit
AnonD-18905, 21 Jun 2012I beg ur pardon sir ,did microsoft ever say that windows phone 8 will run on single core proce... moreThen you should tell me why wp8 is not released for the current generation of wp phones: either it COULD run, but MS wanted to push new phones sales, and this is bad, or it cannot run because its hardware requirements are too high for the current generation of wp phones, and this is bad too, considering that android4, which offers similar (if not better) features can run even on single core 800 mhz chipset and 512 MB of ram without having to remove anything.
Good old Microsoft, they never change. Now they're doing for phones what they do for computers: planned obsolescence.
WP8 Apps on WP7
"I also talked about how WP7 phones will be left in the dark when it comes to new apps with another MS employee. From my discussion, if a developer wanted to target both WP7 and WP8, they would have to develop the app separately for both platforms. Apps written for WP8 would NOT work on WP7 phones."
Microsoft, you really know how to make happy customers, oh wait
