TouchID first on iPhones... t... moreit was essential PH1 who use notch at first, then other companies just adopted it and some called it like waterdrop notch or something, most of the phones design now are similar with small notch in the center like PH-1, not wide notch like bang as iphone.
Sony phones come first with water resistance.
Huawei come first with multi camera trend not apple.
Long before apple pay invented, people of japan knows the very same concept called osaifu-keitai and they have used it there using their phones to pay.
Double/triple layered logic board has been widely used in many electronic devices before iphone use it, and there are several phones dedicated for hiFi phones have used it before apple to separate audio logic board.
Thanks to LG and Samsung display tech who brings smartphone display innovation to this level. And lots of apple products supplied with their display.
Sharp who use first high refresh rate on phone, not apple.
There are plenty of innovation that came from android manufacturers

TouchID first on iPhones... t... moreTo be honest, most of those innovations were around and invented by smaller companies.
In terms of leading, SONY actually put most of those things on the market before anyone. However, their devices were in low-quantities, high-priced, and poor marketing.
Samsung is the only phone company that is vertically aligned.
They make their own Samsung 8nm fabrication, their own architecture Mongoose/Eyxnos, their own RAM modules, their own UFS flash storage, their own Isocell cameras, and their own S-AM-OLED displays. Not to mention, they can make (limited supply) their own Lithium batteries. And the whole thing can run on BadaOS/TizenOS within their own ecosystem.
With that said, other alternatives can and do offer better competition.
For instance, Google Services and AndroidOS. Then there's Qualcomm's Snapdragon SoC's. Sony's Exmor cameras. SK Hynix mobile RAMs. And Lithium Batteries from China are cheaper. Then there is LG's P-OLED and Sharp's impressive IGZO displays. Storage options are definitely notably inferior when going with Toshiba-SanDisk modules, over the Samsung options (Intel has competitive ones, but not accessible to mobile phones).
...with that said, Apple is a strong negotiator when it comes to sourcing batteries, ram, flash, and cameras. It is rumoured that they are focusing on making qLED displays for their devices with heavy investment in R&D and using LG's facilities. They already make their own GPUs. They may look into making their cameras in-house as well.

TouchID first on iPhones... t... moreSo true!
I've been using android since 2013. And since this year I'm think more and more about switching to iOS. The ecosystem is better I believe. My wife has the phone, the watch and the laptop. It's all so smooth.
I just need to sell my Redmi K20 Pro and get the 12 Pro Max 😄

The market is changing and Apple needs to expand their customer base.
Rk100, 11 Jul 2020I don't agree because how is a normal person who isn't into tech suppose to tell whi... moreThe Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max... yeah, like that just rolls off the tongue!
I would prefer to simply call it the iPhone 12L. Or maybe some other suffix. But of course, I wouldn't actually have used the "S-moniker" in the alternative years, and I wouldn't have used the "X-naming" at all to designate "10". As food for thought, when it comes to marketing here are the desirable monikers "M", "V", "G", "T", and to top it off "R", "S", "X", and "Z".
Besides, you forgot how Apple's lineup works.
They used to only make ONE phone per year, which was great for the hardware, software, accessories, servicing, security, support, and longevity. For instance, they had the iPhone 5 as their flagship device. If you wanted a cheaper "mid-range" option, you can instead buy an iPhone 4S.
Apple's lineup then converted into making TWO phones per year: iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, going forward. But they still offered the older iPhone 5S, and later the iPhone SE. When they did this, it not only gave them the cheaper option, but made a lineup of S, M, L category of devices. So in effect they were making THREE phones per year. And this is NOT too many devices to dilute their brand, and their R&D efforts.
With the 2020 lineup?
It looks like they're offering the iPhone SE (cheap, compact), iPhone 12 (cheap, medium), iPhone 12 Pro (expensive, medium), iPhone 12 Max (cheap, large), iPhone 12 Pro Max (expensive, large). So they have SIX devices.
My suggestion was better than their 2012 lineup (one new phone, one old phone), and better than their 2020 lineup (six confusing phones). Why? Because it was a simple 3 Phone model, and all the phones are meant to be expensive/industry-leading. For their budget options, they can simply recycle their previous years 3 phones. That also makes more economical sense, when thinking about standardised parts. That's not too dissimilar to what they did from 2014-2016. Things changed with the iPhone 7 lineup, and they removed the headphone jack.
Here's how it could hypothetically play out in October 2020:
iPhone 12L (or Max, or Z, or Pro) - $1,000 - 6GB/256GB base option - A14 SoC - 2020 cams
iPhone 12M (or Med, or X, or Plus) - $900 - 6GB/256GB base option - A14 SoC - 2020 cams
iPhone 12S (or Mini, or S, or Lite) - $800 - 6GB/256GB base option - A14 SoC - 2020 cams
(new low price)
iPhone 11L - $700 - 4GB/64GB only option - A13 processor - 2019 cameras - 60Hz screen
iPhone 11M - $600 - 4GB/64GB only option - A13 processor - 2019 cameras - 60Hz screen
iPhone 11S - $500 - 4GB/64GB only option - A13 processor - 2019 cameras - 60Hz screen
(all previous models and variants stop manufacturing/discontinued)

Now if they would only make the backs of those phones all flush and remove those nasty camera bumps. Come on Apple make those phones 1mm thicker but infinitely more aesthetically pleasing.

Water resistance?
Telephoto lens?

3D touch?
Apple pay?
double/triple layered logic board?

iOS existed before Android.
Whatever apple does it becomes the standard! I use both platforms but Apple is the leader. Doesn't mean it's the best. It is the leader though. Whatever apple does becomes the norm. headphone jack, sealed units. It's true.Android mostly see what apple does and try to win on papers. Apple has 2 cameras? We'll add 3.
Remember that what apple does is very difficult. No other company can do it. Even Microsoft tried and failed! Apple created their own OS (not a skin! a whole OS), they design and build their own SoC! Many tried but only apple succeeded! Take Android manufacturers! They literally get the OS from Google then buy screens from Samsung, cameras from Sony etc. Just like apple only they don't have to worry about the OS which is the main and most difficult bit!

Yes, I'm agree with that *cough*

They are in the same position at the moment with the 11 and the se 2020
Apple might not be number one in total sales but they don’t release as many phones lol , when they do , it outsells the competition by quite a bit , android manufacturers wish they had phones that sold as well

Finally, small yet powerful devices! Now let's wait for Android OEMs to follow that trend by 2021. That's when I'll get myself a new device
wow this is definitely a big difference than iphone 11
there is no clue that apple uses the same design
In my opinion the iPhone evolution followed a path of growth up until 5s as its highest point. That is their only phone that looked and felt finished to the detail, beautiful and functional. All subsequent attempts are a steady decline. They are now currently occupying the lower midrange segment in just about everything (build quality, materials, design, tech) except the price. The myth goes that way "They must be magical for the money they ask". Human instincts force us to hoard luxury items because they are small in size, limited in quantity and have stable intrinsic value. Phones are the exact opposite of that being abundant and becoming obsolete in less than a year. Still the poor majority is convinced they need to get a loan to buy an iPhone.
They need to do something about their camera layout. Still absurd looking. Especially if they are getting bigger.
Well... then we know what the design will look like.
Only Apple keeps the same design for 4 years and longer.
