Escharlott, 17 Jul 2020I dont get the hate.. this phone offers something you cannot get from others. I will support s... moreYes. Even the matter of fact that we have these things is still better than absolutely not having anything at all.
Others can get similar experience by paying more for an app, which adds extra cost to their already much more expensive devices, which then could've just been used to purchase proper filmmaking equipments like gimball, tripod, rigs, and ND filters.
This is still in its second generation, but at least it works very well for the most part of its purpose, instead of something like 120Hz only in 1080p or 8K with severely cropped FoV and with no proper stabilization, as well as bad autofocusing system.

Anyone who's saying that they can just buy a proper filmmaking camcorder aren't getting the idea that this phone is basically taking more than 70% of the capabilities of those products into one smaller package at half the price. Sure, you can get much better video quality with a RED cameras, but this phone can shoot fast-moving subjects with no motion blur and accurate focus, which the RED cameras can't, and vice versa with an A9II.
This is basically every Sony's best in one package, and it's just additional bonus that it could entirely replicate the functionality of those products.

Absolute waste of time, it is a gimmick feature just like majority of the things Sony have put in their smartphones. The camera are bang average and devices are way over priced for what they are.

Cheap handsets that are over priced.

zodiacfml, 17 Jul 2020Question on Cinematic look, is there a difference shooting on a specific shutter speed vs. a v... moreYes, you'd get clunky or bad quality non smooth motion frames, unless you go down by an integer multiplier, for instance you could go from 48 to 24 or 72 to 24 because you'd still have Frome's with correct timing, otherwise new frames would have to be generated based on previous to try and keep motion or closest one chosen and the motion will feel clunky

If filters is your kink, it's actually a pretty easy solution.
paste the filter on a cheap phone case.
or 3d print a case with interchangeable filters.

The whole article sounds very critical, like it was set up to highlight the weaknesses of the app instead of the positive. And they literally started the review by saying 'here's the clip, complaints follow below'.

No mentioned of competition at all, like how was the experience using the app compared to shooting with S20 Ultra, iPhone 11 Pro, One Plus, LG and others. And can we achieve the same result with other app on other phones? These are things that I think should be in the article.

GSMArena has their own Youtube channels to upload video reviews, so obviously they will rate the app dubbed delivering "functionality and feel of a professional cinema camera" from video creators' perspective rather than average consumers' as they do on their usual camera reviews. And harsher opinions are expected since they will compare it to the usability of dedicated cameras they regularly use.

This is literally the only website, bashing on the cinema app. Which by the way is the only phone that actually offer such alternative. Instead they keep praising about the horrendous blue skies from the galaxies, and their Fake/magical HDR. Or scoring a phone without even stereo speakers like the P40 like the best phone of the year. Hilarious!

Anonymous, 16 Jul 2020Same app on Samsung would be praised. Anyone has any doubt? Or following the same logic, it also "would" get the same fair treatment from GSMArena. You really shouldn't rely on this kind of baseless assertion if you want your comment to be taken seriously.

Question on Cinematic look, is there a difference shooting on a specific shutter speed vs. a video shot at higher 30-60fps but exported to 24 fps?

I can tell boas exist. Another site complained about the position of the icon to switch to front cam. Because it is at the top when phone is held vertically.
Since android 6.0 you can switch by doing diagonal swipe. No need to touch front cam icon.
