AnonD-754814, 16 Jul 2020AMD is still behind in gaming.Because the games mostly do not use a bunch of FPU which is half the CPU core but Zen3 will increase Integer which is the only thing that is even competitive on Intels Lake series, once that happen not only will they have better FPU per cycle but also integer which equals to better IPC in ALL WORKLOADS! Because it's still a mystery whether Qualcomm will go for the cortex X1 or not.

Now MediaTek is doing great in the midrange segment. But it's still far behind than other SoC makers when it comes to Flagship SoC.

A G version of Qualcomm flagship 800 series SoC. Or it's misspelled ?
If not then That's a new.
Also why would Samsung manufacture the SD875G SoC ?
Isn't TSMC fabricating the SD 875 SoC ?
So why choose Samsung for the performance version of the flagship SoC !
From what we've heard is TSMC has better 5nm fab than Samsung. So, won't that make the performance version weaker than the regular ?

I don't really get why they're doing it unless Exynos 1000 is ready with their new custom GPU that's going to be more powerful than the regular Adreno GPU.
So, to match the performance they need to up the adreno GPU performance.
This can be the only explanation of choosing Samsung as the fabricator.

768G was a desperate attempt by Qualcomm to compete with what Mediatek was launching in mid range segment.

Prices also stopped going up unlike your OnePlus and Samsung flagships.

Apple has home-grown CPU but it's just as fast as SD chips, if having worse heat management and slower and traditional charging tech.

Samsung has home-grown Exynos CPU but it'll cook an omelette at the back of your phone under sustained load. 🍳

What?), but even mediatek admitted that the dimensity 820 is slightly faster than the 765G, but the 768G is slightly faster than the 820.

Also it will only be 2022(I think) that more manufacturers use mediatek than qualcomm because they resist change too.

                                The 875 isn't interesting

Mediatek's 2021 flagship soc has more importance for the flagship soc space

Qualcomm already lost this year in the upper midrange segment to mediatek.

Now I'll wait hopefully qualcomm loyalist aren't too traumatised

Imagine spending years saying Snapdragon is king (honestly they have been for years) and then be slowly faced with a reality of the underdog chipset mediatek beating qualcomm in upper midrange soc space

And is a reasonable threat to the flagship soc space of 2021

I've already seen people say they refuse to believe the dimensity 820 performs better than the 768 in comments of videos of the phone outperforming the 7 series

But that is how changes are people naturally resist change.

These are the most expensive components of a phone, so in a way, yes, the soc determines the price of a phone. Look at phones with the sd765G, even though it's not a huge upgrade over the 730G, some of these phones cost almost double the price (there are some exceptions like the mi 10 lite, but that's because they saved money elsewhere).
