Oftentimes, the transition for 2-5x for androids isn't that smooth. That's something that apple should perfect.

You clearly have no idea what perfect means. Both huawei and Samsung zoom looks fake. If you zoom it should look like you didn’t use zoom at all, quality should stay same like it does with real cameras. That is perfect. Both very mediocre, Apple wouldn’t release anything like that. It’s gimmick to try to sell numbers for Android people like you.

Also Apple want the zoom to be seamless and smooth over different lenses, if you have tried 11 pro zoom you understand what i mean. It’s great experience how well it works.

Whenever apple comes with a new feature, the optimization for other apps is always there.

It was already disappointing that the iPhone 11 Pro didn't have a per... moreWhile it is disappointing that you can't get crisp 3x or 5x stills with the iPhone, zoom lenses are used very rarely at their focal lengths. People usually zoom by pinching until the frame looks nice, but that is usually something like 2.4x or 3.7x zoom and iPhone's processing is way more optimized than on any Android for those cases. It's even more evident in video.

With current Huawei and Samsung phones the zoom doesn't look natural. If you zoom it should look like you didn't use zoom at all. I think current Periscope zooms are natural looking around x3-5. Five is propably too much already. There's reason why new upcoming iPhones will only have 3x zoom. Because that will look very natural and work very well and they propably will perfect it. Apple never tries to go too far.
It's funny when Android users always think Apple is coming late if they do something, so many times they have did that and made it better than others. Why? Because they wanted to wait until the tech is great for masses.

The first smartphone with a periscope camera was the Asus Zenfone Zoom. It had a periscope zoom lens, which other phones don't have. Other phones like the P30 Pro use a periscope tele prime lens, which isn't a tele zoom lens. Nonetheless Asus periscope camera can't compete with the new periscope cameras, it captures much less light from distant objects due to a small (focal length / f-number) value.
