The way this article has been framed, hints that Indian consumers will be able to save something now that some phones are "Make in India" (I know grammar does not favour that mantra).

That's absolutely wrong. Apple will save that ~30%. The goverment will pocket the 18~28% "premium" commodity tax hike. And the consumers will save at most 50 USD (3700 INR) only during some "sales" events.

Don't get taken for a ride, it's still worlds cheaper to have some friend or family bring an iPhone over from the US. Buying these in India is only for the "bakras".

So everyone gets excited for cheap iPhone.
But then they decide to omit charger & other accessories thereby rounding up the cost to 800$.

Apple has kept the prices same as before. By doing so, it's now pocketing the 20% import tax which equals approx. 190 USD per iPhone sold.

Firstly, Tim does not know currency conversion properly.
Secondly, Tim is good at cooking to defend high price.

So, Indian consumers should not smile yet!

          Sad.

I'm sure there won't be major fluctuation in prices. More profit for Apple.
