They helped streamline a bit but that was it. And the iphone was not that easy or intuitive compared to ask other devices then. A little more than some but that's it. While just jumping on the bandwagon and taking credit for a lot.

And look what his attitude left Microsoft mobile dreams. In 2007 before first iphone was unveiled, Microsoft and Blackberry were kings in mobile division. But they thought all people are business men and they want their phones "perfect" on paper, with great physical keyboards and so on.
But it turns out that people wanted something different, something new, something refreshing, something easy to understand and use. And here Apple came in, it gave the people that thing, that missing link in the chain.
Yeah, people now will say that they exploit the market, that they did this and that, when in reality they were at the right place at the right time.
Of course that creates jealousy among people, it is the same like in life, when some person is doing some extraordinary thing, they will always be haters. Is easy to hate or dislike what you can't understand or do.
Also, people starting to create lies about this and about that, twist the reality, because nobody ever believed that such an event can change so much an industry. Or that just one company (who was 0 in mobile industry up until that point), can shake so much the foundations of the industry.
So many people hate on Apple not because they are bad at it (that will create pity, not hate), but because they are so good at it. And some people can't understand why Apple is going on and on each year. In their heads they want Apple to fail at some point, just to justify their hatred for the company. Is sad actually.

I remember because I have bad service at work and the 6 would not make it through the work day without powering off. I even remember my 5s wouldn't make it past lunch break. The 6s would leave me with at least 20 % when I got home. I now use Smart battery cases on my iPhones. I love how I don't ever have to worry about battery, I don't mind the bulk. I currently own the 11 Pro and the 2020 SE. I use my phone non stop at work and will have about 20 to 30% battery life on the smart battery case when I get home from work. Without the battery case on my SE 2020 and 11pro, I will have about 20% on the phone and 50% on my 11 pro. I bought my 11 pro at launch day currently only have about 30 charge cycles on my 11 pro and battery health is still at 100%.
A smaller screen for once? Amazing

Now, considering the more efficient ship and smaller batteries, the battery life of iPhones 12 should either be about the same as current gen or slightly worse. That is however, without considering 5G and possibly higher refresh rates, not sure if that was dropped from the last leaks. If it does make it through though, I expect the battery life to tank way bad.

Wonder why.. maybe because the usability was out of the roof compared to other phones in the market? :)
And clearly you remember very wrong, Omnia HD was very laggy and slow phone, Especially where iPhone shine was browser experience and pinch to zoom, multitouch was their killer feature, other phone makers were years behind of the fluidity of iPhone.

Was actually very excited about new compact iphone which would be more compact than my old S7 and have a bit bigger screen. But the phone died and i got S20. It has the same width as the S7 so it's still comfortable despite being too tall. Over very satisfied with it, the fingerprint scanner and the buttons are place good. The only problem i have with it that i cannot use 120hz with wqhd+. Still didn't decide which one to use most of the time, but i think i'll prefer the resolution, because i read boks and find it a bit annoying to change it every time.

When the first iPhone came out even feature and flip phones had more capabilities in many ways. The iPhone just had a nice touch screen in comparison.
It wasn't until the third iphone that they could record video. Or until an update after the third iphone that you could even send and receive mmms. Multi media messages. Aka pictures and stuff.
So while the iphone 2 aka 3g was out with 2mp and no video or flash samsung brought the omnia HD. First phone capable of 720p recording or playback. With 8mp and flash. Stereo speakers. Large oled that trashed the iphone and any lcd out at the time.
And ran on Symbian. Which at the time was way more advanced than ios. Any bit just as smooth but way more feature packed and versatile.
And even before then other Symbian and windows mobile devices were the ones pushing the technology and software.
Apple just hopped on the bandwagon and took credit for things.

Giving Apple way too much credit. If not for Samsung, you will still be stuck with 3.5-inch LCD phone screens. If not for Sony, you won't be getting IP-rated phones.
Well at least one in existed with a normal, paid for, deserved sized battery so far.
Going by the image the notch on this small screen is smaller. if one has iphone x or higher they can easily judge and see that the notch in this pic is smaller. I would be happy with amoled HD screen with narrower bezels. Hopefully battery will as as good as previous year budget models.

I am not saying that Apple is a great company and of course they are interesting in money, but which company isn't lol.
People have so small memory, they are forgetting when all this started.
Yeah, now you will come and tell me that actually Apple didn't invent the smartphone, etc. Well, Apple didn't invent the smartphone, but it make it like it is today. No other company before Apple did this.
I am not an Apple fanboy, I just started buying iphones 1 year ago. But, it is the same like in real life. When you find something that you like (being it is a person, car, house, etc.), do you change it just for the sake of change?
Also I am curious why do you think Apple is a bad company, compared to Samsung or Huawei for example? And why an Apple fanboy is worst than a Samsung or Sony fanboy? People like you just created hatred inside their heads about Apple and you can see only the empty part of the glass, no matter what other people will tell you.

Apple obviously does enough to keep their customers happy, and they make a little money at it. Just don't buy an iPhone, and be happy.

Where's the innovation again?
