* The buyer is informed of the tradeoff before purchasing the phone, and
* The user is informed in supplied documentation about the tradeoff, and
* There is a speed switch on the charger
Do let us know when that happens!
if the battery degradation happen faster, Just change the damn battery. It is so simple
I think it is a good progress. Even my 30w charger fill 0 to 5k mah battery feel fast, we need a faster charger. I hope OEM have a software feature like ROG 3. So we can lower the speed of charging with ease. Maybe overnight we can use slow 5w/10w.
Anonymous, 27 Jul 2020For 2019, the Qualcomm SoC market share is less than 40%. From this point on, Qualcomm's ... moresource? if QC has 40% who has remaining 60%

Finally qc 5.0, my xiaomi and huawei have been waiting. and probably any bbk super vooc system
Mobile will be damage overfast charge
So Qualcomm is copying BBK's tech for release in the US. More American innovation like night mode, under-display fingerprint reader
Funny how Qualcomm went in depth and explained how safe it is (so did bbk) but apparently we have professors in gsmarena smarter than the engineers who've been developing this tech for over 2 years? Can you believe that?
Blackkk Mamba , 27 Jul 2020Whenever they do have a problem with their phone, they look it up on Internet for solutions an... moreThey do not want to use 50, 70 or 100W.
Any company that has ever made laptops or other electronics are able to deal with high voltage.
My 2012 Dell has 90W charger.
But I can just remove battery whenever I want, so there will be no harm.
I cannot do same on my phone.
MacBook Pro = 65W
Iphone/ipad = 18W
Some companies just do not care if you have to pay them for new battery every year or get new phone due to poor battery life.
I wonder why some ppl here cannot see this simple fact.
Everytime an article pops up about fast charging, there will always be neighsayers who complain that batteries will degrade faster hence companies are greedy they want your money. Now hear me out.
First, fast charging is a CHOICE, you're allowed to use other chargers. Second, fast charging isn't the only factor of battery degradation (and is probably not the biggest). Third, batteries have a certain lifespan so it's expected to be replaced within 2 years regardless of fast or slow charging.
Who knows, people who complain fast chargers probably complained Apple still uses a 5W charger or they just don't know how to take care of their batteries.
Also, have these people thought that you can replace a battery? Has that thought ever cross their minds? If you can pay $1K for a smartphone, you should be able to afford a battery replacement. It really isn't the end of the world.
This might damage to battery.... can charging port absorb 100w Ac power ??
"future is exhilarating!"
i hope there will be no consequences with that super fast charge like battery exploded or short lifespan battery
""Quick Charge 5 is built on top of USB Power Delivery"".
Guess this would mean devices like laptops & everything having USB C Charging will also be supported (Nice).
Anonymous, 27 Jul 2020Doesnt matter . Wont use chinese unsafe fast charging .Qualcomm is an American company.
Blackkk Mamba , 27 Jul 2020Whenever they do have a problem with their phone, they look it up on Internet for solutions an... moreWho tf fast charges phones? I have qc3.0 chargers and i still use my 1 amp samsung charger that is 8 years of age at this point and my batteries hold anywhere from 3-4 years. I always charge at 1amp when i have the option(charger). Fast charging is only good for those 15min but i'd never use a 100w charger. Try putting your hand on a 65w cpu without a heatsink after a few seconds, it's hot af. Nah, 30w fast charging is the safe spot, anything above requires either more volts or more batteries, but last i checked we still haven't grown out of thin phones so no thank you. In other news, 2020 is still to produce a phone that's worth upgrading from a redmi note 3 pro.
Anonymous, 27 Jul 2020For the company that powered 80% of smartphone :) they are in charge to set the standard .For 2019, the Qualcomm SoC market share is less than 40%. From this point on, Qualcomm's market share will go down, not up. I will not be surprised if Qualcomm's market share goes below 30% in 2020. A sharp drop in the mid-ranger market share will be most devastating. We will all see this clearly when we reach the end of 2020.
Blackkk Mamba , 27 Jul 2020You think vooc charging never had any regulations?
You think a bunch of illiterates rolled o... moreReally. Well, sorry I challenged you there. Maybe the ones who cries out battery degradation on their BBK flagships are those power users who happened to mismanage their battery because of their life patterns. Then again, my old Nokia 8 did suffer battery degradation because I frequently left my phone open with charger attached to AFK farm in Ragnarok M. I'm now laid back from that and I'm doing my best to maintain my RoG Phone II's battery well.
Wait so this misinformation is just an overexaggeration from the vocal minority in the internet?
