As an owner of a Galaxy S20 Ultra Exynos, I can definitely say that this is not Samsung's year. Don't get me wrong, the device is good but it just doesn't give me the same feeling that I felt before that I have the best device this generation like when I first owned the S6, S7, and S9+. If they don't fix the Exynos mess next year, I might consider switching brands or even jump ship to iOS.

Snapdragon still can cock eggs!

"Improving heat management"
Install a small area of graphite sheet like in an iPhone. Or just expand the vapor chamber by 4cm^2.
Still throttles worse than Huawei P40 and iPhone 11 (especially non-Pro). Gap may increase with certain SD865 Chinese OEMs.
Easier said than done. Pretty sure it'll be bottlenecked again not in benchmarks, but a speed test. Just outright dissapointing.
if they want to make headway then they need to increase the mali gpu cores by 2 or 4 more with a lower click rate.
While also slightly lowering the peak speed of their custom cores and fixing the scheduler. Along with improved heat management.

I don't care about performance, but I do care about poor battery life on Exynos version.

They should move down to the mid-range class. They seem to do better there. Their mid-range A-series camera phones are top sellers.
As seen with the S20 Ultra, they just can't cut it anymore. They release inferior, half-baked technology that can't be fixed because of hardware issues. The Note 20-series is already off to a very bad start.
Just wait until Youtube is flooded with comparisons between the Note 20 Ultra E990 vs. SD865+ chip. It will be a disaster for Samsung.

I currently own note 10+ and I wanna upgrade
But beca... moreExactly. I'm on a Note 8 now and wanted to change to the Note 20 Ultra but since I'm in Denmark and thereby get the Exynos version of the phone, I'll probably hold out. I might get the iPhone 12 Pro Max or the ROG 3 instead. It's a shame Samsung discriminates different markets in this way.
I think it will become pretty chaotic when the inevitable comparisons of the Exynos 990 vs. S865+ begin to surface. Samsung will be forced to make a public statement sooner or later.
Anonymous, 31 Jul 2020That's fast enough, I think. Exynos chips are no slouch. speed wise the exynos is just passable in daily use , but the snapdragon and Adreno are a good percentage ahead in performance overall.
if you look at speed test g on the tube , the snapdragon version runs the test in about one minute thirty , the exynos runs the same test in about 2 minutes.
If there was only a two or three percent difference , very few would sook about it ,
but twenty-five percent difference is a kick in the guts..
not good enough when you can buy a cheap phone hundred's of dollars less with a snapdragon that wipes the floor with it.
Suvi333, 31 Jul 2020Nothing has changed inside 990 hence the name remains as it is..just trying to create a hype.Exactly.

Shadocx, 31 Jul 2020I thought S6 was only Exynos.Yes, thats the reason as SD 810 was overheating and performing like crap comparing to exynos 7210 competition. After 810 fiasco Qualcomm quickly regain their status by producing efficient and powerful chips and exybos custom core strategy unfortubately didint work out at all
Still behind 3200 multi scores mark of 865, not great at all, single cores almost onpar, which is good but still multicore speeds are quite behind
