Imagine the amount of money someone would make if they provide third party Stock/Hydrogen OS like support as yearly subscription for like 10-15 dollars. This would reduce e waste to great extent as people will use their device for longer as the performance per dollar of cellphones will improve. Sometimes i wonder if hardware manufacturers intentionally put bloatware and ads to slow their device after some time and force users to upgrade.
