Shui8, 03 Aug 2020Q2 - Xperia 1iii (flagship - compete with Galaxy S30 & Huawei P series) Xperia Mid Rang... moreYou expect a phone called premium that is better than the one that is the 4K Premium?
All i want from Sony is a new SmartWatch :(
1 and 1 ii are the successors of Z5P, XZP and XZ2P.
prediction:
Premium: 6.2"
Normal: 6.0"
Compact: 5.7"
In before people complain:
- the compact version is no longer compact
- the large/premium version isn't much larger, but weirdly it's too long
Q2 -
Xperia 1iii (flagship - compete with Galaxy S30 & Huawei P series)
Xperia Mid Ranger - (compete with other mid ranger)
Xperia Entry Level - (low end SD chip)
Q4 -
Xperia 1iii Premium (slightly bigger screen, battery, upgraded camera, using Snapdragon + version, compete with Galaxy Note, Huawei Mate & iphone Max series)
Xperia 1iii Compact (same spec as vanilla 1iii, smaller battery & screen)
Xperia Premium Mid Ranger (OLED, ip rating, best mid range SD soc).
Keep the portfolio small. Repeat every year.
Make sure a week after launch, devices ready to buy.
Just my 2 cent.
Sony Xperia 1 iii - can't wait for that phone to release:)
Whackcar, 03 Aug 2020That would be wise. That is a sensible release strategy. If it can work for Apple, it can work... moreSo true
FINALLY! Never understood why Sony abandoned the compact series in a first place, but I guess the ultramassive success of the compact iPhone SE2 (even from lifelong android users who were tired of all the phablets) opened their eyes.
Good move that compact but still flagship ones are going to come back. Tired of continent size smartphones.
Yeahhhh....with a hefty price tag. No thanks.
I want 90 Hz, OLED, Stereo speakers.
nooo. I was planning to buy a sony flagship exactly next year.
I have 3 options. The newest rog phone (or if I find a great deal the 3rd rog phone), the newest sony (with a bit of a sale since this year's one was so dam expensive) or the iphone 12 (also don't know which size).
Good for Sony. Hopefully all 3 models will have the same specs. The battery capacity being different (smaller on the compact variant) is something I expect and understand, but if, for example the cameras on the "large" model are better than the ones on the compact, then that will be unacceptable.
Surely there must be people who still want compact phones with no silly compromises. This is Sony's chance to capitalize on that.
Hell yes! Gimme that Compact!
That would be wise. That is a sensible release strategy. If it can work for Apple, it can work for anyone else as well, as long as the products are good.
