Sad thing about such device is its already falling behind, half year old cameras, not the fastest charging, exynos for some... as opposed to s20 line which is now at least cheaper. If I imagine what huawei will bring, its hard not to mind. The best features are probably pen and collaboration thing, do not know about pen, but for huawei to do with windows what samsung does, is it even possible?

The usual number of major OS update I get for the Samsung S7 Egde and S9+ is 2 with 3 years of security update so making it 3 major OS is nice with 4 years of security update. I commend Apple for supporting their device OS up to five but who uses their phone for 5 years? Just imagine the battery wear unless you are regularly replacing it.

Anonymous, 06 Aug 2020Too bad every Samsung update slows the phone down. I'm starting to think that updating is... moreWho told you this nonsense? I have used many samsung devices, phones and tablets, updated them lots of times and they are as good as I bought them.

Anonymous, 06 Aug 2020You need to read the article. 3 major OS updates = launch on Android 10, upgrade to 11 (2020)... moreYoi read it right! Thats exacrly how th8ngs are. I am surprised at people who thinks this is 4 orb5 years of support. Bu****t! I had Note and thats the updates I received. You buy it with outdated Android and the first update is just to be finally like the others. I am pissed that Samsung continue to sell expensive phones with old Android. This year the Android is not yet out, but all previous years it premieres in June or earlier, but in September we get Note with old Android!!!! W*F???
I am over with Note series and Samsung. If I spend huge money I will buy Huawei or Apple. Bye Samsung! Go scam other sheeps with stupid exynos chips, old Android, and huge price. I am done with you!

So does it mean that 3yrs of OS Updates and Security Updates + another 2yrs of Security Updates, a total of 5yrs???

I mean... all Samsung Flagships are supported for 2yrs OS Updates and Security Updates + another 2yrs Security update, a total of 4yrs...

While I'm glad that Samsung keeps focusing on updates, they should do the same approach across the entire device lineup just like what Nokia does. Heck, even a Snapdragon 2xx Nokia device can receive two major software version update, so that tells something.

Well, these are news. As a user of the galaxy flagships I think it is good to have at least 3 updates. That will give a lifespam of 4 years without being outdated, and the resale value won't go down drastically.

For how much it costs, it should get at least 3 major updates.

Nothing has changed, it's still 2 years worth of updates, 11 comes out soon, then next year 12, then the year after that(2 years later) 13

Anonymous, 05 Aug 2020Really good. Three years is enough to upgrade again. You need to read the article. 3 major OS updates = launch on Android 10, upgrade to 11 (2020), upgrade to 12 (2021), upgrade to 13 (2022) -> just over 2 years. Knowing Samsung's historical track record, however, it could conceivably take them into 2023 to get all of the Android 13 updates out.
