I am comparing 100x zoom in photos with S20U and Huawei p40 pro.
It's miles better than those two devices despite optical zoom being 5x.
Don't know what kind of magic they have done with the software.

[deleted post]DXOmark just uses out of the box settings though from what I have seen in their testing methodology. They don't change settings or manual mode to see what is the actual best photo you can get?

        "large 1/32-inch Quad-Bayer sensor"
1/32 inch sensor is not exactly large. Did you mean "1/1.32 inch", like they say in the article?

The daylight images were some of the best and way more detailed than 12mp images from other sensors.
It didn't even have the autofocus problem of S20 ultra.
It's just that this sensor is better than the HMX sensor from Samsung.

Honestly xiaomi is doing so well and I think dxomark is factual enough jux that the type of camera used for the camera counts. And Apple does well in outside environment but poor in room temperature

Now this is one epic Smartphone camera... Puts the overpriced Samsung S20 Ultra to shame. and Huawei P40 as well, it does not even have google services but just look at its price lol.

So.. The game changer is omnivision sensor?
Preference from DxoMark, it's better than P40pro in lowlight even without ryyb.

Should I wait for next non premium flagship with omnivision sensor instead?

                            2. I think you can turn it off.
                            3. Agree.
                            4. But P40 Pro's night mode is "meh" and doesn't really improve the image quality at all.
                            5. I haven't checked it but if that's the case then I would agree.
                            6. That's still better than having slightly wider apertures but massively inferiour sensors like you can see on P40 Pro or Note 20 Ultra.
                            7. I agree to some extent.
                            8. Mi 10 Ultra has a great per-pixel detail level too so at least they will be comparable during the day.
                            9. No.

Nothing surprising here, while Xiaomi's software processing is still far from being the best, they put tons of effort on improving the hardware specs to make up for it, and looking at the samples I can clearly see their strategy working on this particular product. Xiaomi did their best at this point of time and they indeed deserve praise for it. Kudos to Xiaomi for pushing the hardware boundaries once again, I wish Google and Apple will take some notes from them.
