Xiaomi phones with bad camera (like Redmi Note 8 Pro): DxOMark review released SEVERAL MONTHS after release to not affect the sales
Classic... I'm not saying they'd give trash camera a great score for money, but at least at the very top of the flagship segment where the difference is mostly up to a personal preference, money is 100% involved in who gets the top spot.

Thats bad. Most of the benefits are irrelevant compared to the problems in stills mode. I'm video mode, it is bad. I'm sick of yet another 'look at me' still mode, with bad video. Let them try to get a 130 score in video at least? Try 4:2:2 12 bit, try 150-300 mb/s h266. Then we can talk about having descent performance.

You need to add additional costs like Research and development, design, market research, prototyping (ohh yes, it costs money), taxes in different countries and regions, sales distributions, shipping costs, machinery costs, that's not even include profits and advertisements. Unless, you assume that everyone who works other than in manufacturing floor work for free

Looks like these DXO guys are in-house people of Xiaomi. They did the same thing for MI 10 pro. Phone is not yet released, they are out with the camera results, whereas, for samsung, it takes at least 2 months after release to get the testing done.

So dxomark gave the score on same day of announcement and yet months later we dont have huawei p40 pro+ score.
Xiaomi really did a good job with this model.

Its basically great at everything, but it produces a weird artifacts on patterns so be aware.
The rest of processing is great, but for me not enough detail. Shame it uses quad bayer, so no worthy hi res raws. No jack either.
Got to say though, for that performance and price combination, its a steal anyway.

Front camera video still miserable 1080 at 30fps, like cheap budget phone for 650€. Samsung midrange phones has 4K video and some other Chinese midrange model I think one plus put on Nord 4K front video camera.
