[deleted post]I see that you are the one who's ignorant. Don't forget that US carriers use weird bands that are not supported in Global model, outdated CDMA tech that renders most international phones not working properly. Of course people can buy but can they use it?
And don't forget that most US friends of mine never paying upfront for a phone, but pay monthly in 2 years or more. People everywhere want a good deal, but $30 a month, for example, sound a lot more reasonable than $1000 right away, so US people have an easier way to buy a flagship compares to other places. And look at the report, the best selling iPhones are the cheapest one. So does Samsung.

They also have the cheapest deals on lots of electronics like laptops that the rest of the world can only hope for.

Most countries already have a market of no more than 5 OEMs. Even China.
It's not about choice, but confidence built through years of investment in that market; something that not all companies are willing to spent.

Imagine if there is Huawei, Realme, Xiaomi and other flagship killers brand there. People would have bought them. They offer better value for money. Just sad that they aren't sold in US. They need to be imported so they costs more. But they will kill almost all phones launched in the US.
