No other OS can beat the functionality of Android
Lets make a list here
-can customise ringtone
-can use third party (non market apps)
-Bluetooth file share
-cheap to premium handset choice (you got devices like the galaxy y, ZTE blade ....and galaxy note, s3 and the prada 3.0 on the other end
-can access files like a USB
-can use a wallpaper or better a live wallpaper
-can change the theme (both the wp7 and ios launchers are available on the market)
-can use any type of keyboard (Swype, bigkey, old school 12 key)
-wp doesn't support Grindr
-so many updates but both the apple and MSoft cannot match the functionality of the Android Brower
-a projector phone, a phone with xenon flash, dual screens, and other form factors (the only form factor I like is the Dell venue pro)
-rooting (although have not rooted my phone yet)
-Skype.....!(its kind of weird that msoft owns Skype and yet it has had a bumpy run on wp7)
-google services have always been free
-google maps alone is worth switching to Android(that's not ME that's a CNET correspondence saying in the review of the LG optimus one)
-if you love tiles...then I got two words for you....launcher seven
blueglue, 04 Jul 2012You should be aware that CBD is just another polarizer used by Nokia on a SAMSUNG supplied AMO... moreOk we agree most of mobiles brands use samsung supplied display panels, but nokia CBD is the best technology invented to view display on direct sunlight, even we cannot view display clearly on samsung in direct sunlight, just compare the 808,l900,l800 against s3 in sunlight, and nokia have very strong&durable hardware like N9,l800,l900,so dont compare with sam plastic toys like s2,s3 and nokia have beautiful design with different looks, but sam always make samemodel from very basic champ to high end s3,we can find the diff only by screen size and always copy model from apple and nokia to galaxy ace, tablet.nokia have better knowledge than sam interms of design, quality, service, and softwares, sam success only with android and no.1 smartphone maker only due to nok not present in android family.there is no doubt NOKIA BECAME NO.1 if they choose android and also they have large fanbase see they receiveing 100+ comments for every news.samsung galaxy will collapse soon by NOKIA.all the best nokia, gudbye sam.
If any Nokia executive is reading this news, just have a look at how many pages of comment this news has got, even after confirmation that this was a false assumption, and how many people want Nokia to go for Android. I suggest not to neglect this response, for your own good.
macoi, 05 Jul 2012this would be a killer nokia:
-4.3" clearblack amoled display of 720p resolution
-quad ... moreAnd
Huge battery (or removable battery)
Bluetooth file share
If the windows 8 devices come with that. I'll surely ditch my s2, buy a high end wp device
And a galaxy tab for fun and apps
blueglue, 04 Jul 2012You should be aware that CBD is just another polarizer used by Nokia on a SAMSUNG supplied AMO... moreNokia has been a key player in Mobile Industry so most of the technology used right now in your mobile phones has a Nokia Patent in it...

blueglue, 04 Jul 2012You should be aware that CBD is just another polarizer used by Nokia on a SAMSUNG supplied AMO... moreexcuse me? so you think all amoled displays are supplied by samsung? amoled is a screen type. it's not a property of samsung just the same as lcd's, they're not anyone's own. that's why its clear black displays, because its a amoled with a nokia twist on it. you are so boastful. samsung's super amoled displays are just innovation to the usual amoled just like clearblack amoled, check this and learn. before posting any weird stupid comment. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMOLED
Anonymous, 04 Jul 2012clearblack technology is one of those... Lumia phones are the best Windows Phone right now... ... moreYou should be aware that CBD is just another polarizer used by Nokia on a SAMSUNG supplied AMOLED screen.
And is that all you have to say about the 'good h/w'??
people see this how much people love and proud they are with nokia. in 2days the comments has reached 417.well what to say action speaks loud then words
best of luck NOKIA.
Nokia, please take android and customize it for Nokia. With your years of experience, I am sure you will do a better job than HTC or samsung in terms of features, reliability and affordability
I guess Nokia will be gone. Will just end up as Microsoft hardware department. Run by Americans.
I hope they go for meego! The OS on the N9 is so nice and runs very very well. if it had the backing and more apps it would kick that green robots back side off the top spot!
That the author "can't think of any other mobile OS, which can be a viable alternative to the Windows Phone strategy, other than Android" shows either bias or a lack of cognitive power...
It is a fallacy that Android equates with market share automatically. Samsung has long dominated the number one spot in Android profits and almost certainly will continue to do so. The recent Google / Motorola alliance prompted the big G to state they will keep a level playing field with version releases "for 5 years" and this can easily be read as putting OEMs on notice to seek alternatives or become second tier release vehicles. What profits there are, go in overwhelming percentages to Samsung. Soon that may shift to include Motorola. Even Samsung is hedging its bets by throwing support and R&D dollars at Tizen.
OpenMobile is on track to release ACL which will level the ecosystem playing field. They will support multiple platforms.
OS viability is about to be thrown wide open.
If I wanted to show MY bias I would make a pitch for my mobile OS of choice, but I won't.
I believe I've already given it more considered thought and outlined more salient talking points than the author.
Come on, GSM Arena, I expect better from you and your headlined stories than this bit of hastily cobbled together fluff.
If Nokia decides to use Andriod platform, I will switch back to Nokia again.
Nokia, you hear me???
Screw Windows platform
