I've had iPads Air, Air 2 & iPhone 8, 11 pro and switched between Android for years.
iOS was always very buggy. Definitely not the "stable" system.
And the updates are pure comedy. Outdated at best.

Don't worry, you just have to wait 5-10 years to enjoy the same features as Android on your iOS. But yeah most of those features that you get late won't be as polishes as Android and will be half baked at best like widgets on iOS.

Even 5 year old Androids are miles ahead of w... moreYeeeah, no. I've been on Android almost from beginning to Android Pie and this has been the lamest shit attached to Android OS. Slow updates that take months to arrive after Google releases them and then vendors always sacked them just when some most exciting big update was released. Fast forward now on iOS and it's entirely different story. 5 years of pretty much guaranteed updates means I'll be changing device before I have to worry about software, I get updates the moment they are released and iOS actually isn't as crap or bad as people make it seem. Mostly BS spread by Android fanboys who never actually tried iOS. Sure, it has some dumb things that they are addressing with iOS 14, but it also has a lot of things that Android copied over. And some I still just plain like more on iOS.
Frankly, 3 years of updates is still pretty sad because it's very much likely you'll still use device after just 3 years. Where with iOS, at 5 years, relatively unlikely though some still do. Wouldn't you also like 5 years of major updates on Android too? I'm on iOS and I wish Android users would also had that. And if some Android vendor does offer 5 years one day it'll be the only one with this kind of leverage to attract long term users. And when you're that long with single device from one vendor it's likely you'll buy one from them again. Opposed to jumping between different vendors every 2 years... It creates loyalty and comfort zone of end users and only Apple seems to get it. It's why people stick with Apple stuff, not because of BS lies that you're somehow locked into their ecosystem. Coz you're just not.

Anonymous, 15 Aug 2020People should care about security updates, though.Unless a group of hackers specifically target you using the security hole or vulnerability (if it exists) which is not fixed through a security patch, you have nothing to worry about. The likelihood of such a thing happening is 0.00001%.
So lack of security patches don't affect the end user in the real world.
Ppl and several businesses used Intel chipsets for years without issues despite the Spectre & Meltdown vulnerabilities. As I said, unless a team of hackers specifically target you exploiting that security loophole, you are safe.
Ppl continue to fall for marketing gimmicks where they feel if they don't have the latest security patch, they are vulnerable or worse the phone becomes unusable after 2 years. These are the same people that can be hacked using a simple phising link and they are worried about vulnerabilities in the system that are less likely to be a threat.

Not sure why anyone would by this. Specs will be outdated and as people here have said, it's now an old idea with many having already released their versions. Think back to MS and Nokia, what happened to those promises? I spent a lot of money and for what? A perfectly good 950XL paper weight. Sorry MS, I'm out.
