Hmmmmm I think dropping the ToF sensor is a good decision at least for now.... I mean aside from improved Edge Detection and AR stuff what else can it do....??
Does even the Ipad Pro use the direct ToF to its full potential??
*sorry AR (Augmented Reality)
I suspect it's due to software limitations, lack of VR apps.
[deleted post]Haha yes
Love the Community, 15 Aug 2020It's S21. Samsung will never copy what Huawei does. Samsung's Nomenclature is as fol... moreReally?! Then why they copied Huawei (HiSilicon) chipset numbering (Kirin 980 -> Exynos 980, Kirin 990 -> Exynos 990 etc..)?
Apple, Huawei etc. are using it really well. Is Samsung incompetent?
AnonD-754814, 15 Aug 2020I thought Samsung dropped ToF in favor of Laser AF system. Here we're hearing a new sto... moreIt's too expensive to manufacture for the currently non exist ant use cases. Laser auto focus replicates just enough features of the ToF system to be viable
Phone makers should stop bundling us with electronic waste in the name of multiple cameras. Several poor quality cameras supported by marketing just irritates me.
[deleted post]Fanboi? Make some sense dude. I just told you something that shoulf have given you some thoughts to not treat people like animald and now you tell me that? Shut up
My main concern is whether this phone is coming with a Selfie Camera OIS or no
“Besides, the indirect ToF technology Samsung uses is less powerful than the direct ToF technology used by Apple.” From the article.
As per usual Apple always buys top end hardware while android manufacturers try pass off crap technology as equal.lol.
Shui8, 15 Aug 2020Hurm which Apple device using ToF?Lidar is ToF.
Anonymous, 15 Aug 2020You care. Even bothered to reply with stupid answer. Huh? Stupid awnser? What do I care?
Someguy20, 15 Aug 2020I reckon it sounds better if it's called galaxy s30, not s21. There must be a reason why ... morebecause it's matched the year. S20 in 2020, S21 in 2021, S22 in 2022, it's sound nice and easy to remember

It's S21. Samsung will never copy what Huawei does. Samsung's Nomenclature is as follows. 2010 - 2019 (S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, S6, S7, S8, S9, S10)
2020 - 2029 (S20, S21, S22, S23, S24, S25, S26, S27, S28, S29)
2030 - 2039 (S30, S31~~~~)
It would be stupid for Samsung to follow the China way of numbering. What I or everyone supposedly propose for the nomenclatures are fine as is.
