For example, LG used SD835 (2017 chip) for their 2019 phones. LG has consistently had left-over older flagship chips in quantity that they have to repurpose for their newer phones. In other words, LG has consistently overestimated the potential of flagship phones over the years.

Though i may have made a mistake with the 4... more(1) All 5G phones are also 4G phones, probably "better" 4G phones due to newer SoCs, superior antenna design, and other improvements that come with new 5G phones. A 5G phone can be turned into a virtual "pure" 4G phone by switching off 5G related functionality. I see no negative impact on 4G markets as a result of this switching to 5G phones, provided that the "5G premium" is reduced and eventually reversed. The production of 5G phones in 2020 has been scaled up to such an extent, "5G Premium" is literally disappearing as we speak. Even with the pandemic, the shipment of 150-200 million 5G smartphones is still expected for the Chinese market alone. World wide shipment of 5G phones will be 200-250 millions or higher, assuming that the sale of 5G iPhone takes off. According to Xioami executives, the "5G Premium" will be turned into "5G bonus" for most price segments as we approach the end of 2020. In other words, for the same price, 5G phones will be better spec'd than 4G phones; and for phones with comparable specifications, 5G phones will be better priced than 4G phones. We have already seen $200 5G phones (based on D720, D800, SD765G), and we will see a wave of $150 5G phones (based on D600, D720, SD690) forthcoming in the coming month. With some luck, we might even see some $100 5G phones by the end of 2020. Will that be nice if Redmi 10 ($100), Redmi Note 10 ($150) and Redmi Note 10 Pro ($200) are all 5G?
(2) Most phone-makers don't have a viable option to make 2020 smartphones using SD855 because SD855 is no longer in active production and no longer available at 2019 price. If the sale of your 2019 flagship phones was much worse than expected, you might have some left-over SD855 you can repurpose, or other phone-makers might agree to offload their left-over SD855 to you. If you want to place a small order of new SD855, you will be refused. If you want to place a large new order of SD855, the chip-maker may offer to re-open the production line for such a special order and you can expect a price tag higher than that of SD865.
maybe new technology from apple five years later
Looks like a nice phone, to bad its a midrage chip. Why ZTE? we need flagships killers.
wbpwns, 21 Aug 2020I feel they should have used sd 855 and no 5g if they're still testing the watersThey did this! Is called Axon 10 Pro.
DMX, 20 Aug 2020Excellent promotional video by ZTE, it even made me want to try that terminalYup, was thinking the same, nice teaser!

Though i may have made a mistake with the 4g part of my comment, I'm not sure why they didn't use a flagship chip like sd855 since sd865 is too pricey. I may be wrong that zte is just testing the market for ud camera. I just felt that sd855 with or without 5g is more attractive to consumers than sd765
wbpwns, 21 Aug 2020I feel they should have used sd 855 and no 5g if they're still testing the watersWhy would ZTE do that? In a practical sense, 4G phones and 4G markets are all essentially dead, and nothing interesting will happen, from this point on, to those left-over 4G markets. All new and interesting developments will be oriented towards 5G phones and 5G markets. The age of 5G has already started. 5G is now, today, here, in 2020, not tomorrow, not 2-3 years in the future.
That chin thou. I hope they make the perfect bezel. I don't care if it's thick like iPhone Pro max series. The bezel must be equal on each side.
AnonD-836132, 20 Aug 2020The first of many. Hope this gets mainstream by the start of next year.As long as it doesn't flood the market like the notch and punch holes did and that other ways, mainly those respecting privacy, like pop up and no front camera, aren't disappeared or rendered super rare because of this tech, yes, you can have as many as you wish and I won't mind.
Sadly, exactly like the notches and punch holes did cause other solutions, mainly the totally fine and perfectly working and good solution that is the bezel and the privacy friendly pop up, were both, along with more rare solutions, such as second display on the back, totally left on aside because of those two, and sadly the underdisplay camera will show the same highly negative market influance.
GAMIRSFM, 20 Aug 2020What? In that case, all phone cameras are for creeps. This one you can point and not be suspicious. There are apps to black out the display while recording.
The first of many. Hope this gets mainstream by the start of next year.
