Xiaomi or oppo should make a dual screen phone with 5000 mah and at least 50w charging and at least sd765 chip or sd8xx because nubia z20 sucks (front camera settings are different even if same camera hardware and also no updates)
Or a flip camera with those specs (but zenfone 7 seems to be good)

Flip cams are best moving parts camera because in worst case scenario that it broke, you can still manually flip it. Pop ups can't be pulled out manually and find x is just a bigger pop-up. A80 has both pop-up and rotating parts. Doubly risky.
As for no movable parts alternative to flip cams, dual screen is the answer.

I assume the question was about design preference for future between these, then current under screen solution quality is irrelevant.
In theory, undamagable flip-up or pop-up would be fine to make sure cam is disabled when it should be. Front camera needed for videocalls, second display solves nothing. Bezels are not coming back. Neither a few people who say not using front cam won't solve anything.
So in reality, after it improves under screen has obviously more advantages so it's a way to go. However some kind of 100% bulletproof notification whether camera is working would be hugely welcome. Idk if possible though.
Btw I wonder if anybody really uses tape on selfie cam. Posting it here when needed is one thing and actually hanging around with taped phone is something else.
Pop-up and Flip-up camera's are fun to use and look cool... :(

Flip up is better IMO because you get uninterrupted display and selfies with main camera which is far more superior than selfie cams and you also get dual/triple camera setup so you can also take ultrawide selfies and portrait selfies without chopped ears and if you are worried about being spied you will know exactly when someone is using your camera to spy on you because the camera will flip up and you can also do panorama sure you might not get ip rating but pop ups have been proved to be somewhat water resistant (surely it will also apply to flip up) and ip rating is just marketing anyways who in the world submerge their phone in water? And it is only limited to clean water and warranty does anyways
3rd-option, 2nd screen at the rear (Nubia Z20 but improved). Most smartphones already has glass rear with Gorilla Glass protection so why not add an additional screen on there preferably OLED. Rear cams were always very good with variety of options due to multicam setups nowadays, and guess what, rear cams have LED flash so no issue on pitch black environment and LEDs can be dimmed just enough to not blind the user. For me, in terms of utility and having the best cams just add a screen at the rear, that's the best option.
Flip up cameras are better (if they can ensure endurance) because they allow one to use the back cameras which offer way better image and video quality (larger senors, brighter apertures, OIS, etc.)
I don't like something mechanical in a smartphone, potentially broke and it means no water resistant. Under display camera will make the phone design neat
It amazes me how consumers literally have no clue where this is all going. In my opinion, the flip up cameras was the best option available and it didn’t take off because of only 2 reasons. One was because average users apparently became experts on the mechanics of flip up cameras. They started acting like they were going to use the phone for 10 years and called the flip up cameras less reliable because of “moving parts”. The second reason was because Apple did not implement it first and called it “innovative”. Let’s face it, when Apple implements something, others follow like good little sheep (no I am not a fanboy).
On the other hand, there were countless good reasons for keeping the flip up cameras, such as privacy (for me at least), no notch, no punch hole, full screen, reduced bezels (the ugly chin is still there on many Androids though and it will probably be there still with under the screen camera). This under the screen thing is not a solid tech yet and we just love to fix something that isn’t broke
I feel rotating camera used in Samsung a80 or Asus z6 is quite better solution.. yet the all these comes at extra cost, costly & complicated reparing factors. The old plain no notch design is still the best.
Pixel 4 duo, Sony xperia ii, iPhone se 2020(except for its big bezels) are still better than any of today's phone design.
I'd say that for now, flip up cameras are better since this is the first generation of under display cameras, and so there will be flaws, but over time, as the technology gets better, id say under display cameras will be better, but for me personally, id choose a dual display because i'd like that consistency in quality between normal photos, and selfie shots.
Anonymous, 23 Aug 2020You prefer a selfie camera in the bezel, directly and without obstruction facing you, but it... moreYes - the main difference is that with selfie camera in bezel you can easily cover it with a sticker, and if you want to be sneaky about it you can cover it with a black tape and it's barely noticable. It doesn't obstruct your display in any way.
With under-display selfie camera you simply can't do it without literally covering part of your screen which is being used all the time (videos, web scrolling, games etc.). MAYBE there's some 3rd party app that would allow you to disable that part of the screen, but even then you'd be losing a massive portion of the screen (because manufacturers don't have any motivation to place the selfie camera so far from the edge). So yes, I'd pick a selfie camera in thin bezel over the one under screen ANY day of the week.
