How would a 30% increase in power draw from the processor be equivalent to a 30% decrease across the whole phone? Battery life HAS improved over the last 3-5 years... So has screen size, screen quality, the complexity of apps, the graphics of mobile-based games (and their own respective performance due to the quality of hardware increasing), bio-metrics have become more advanced too, I could go on. Why do people like you always have to see the negative on anything? You're on a forum specifically about phones, at least pretend you like them

Unethical business practices? I'm sure there are a lot more examples of American companies engaging in unethical business practices than there are Chinese ones.

I guess ASML could strip their equipment of US tech before selling them to China.

Anonymous, 25 Aug 2020You are talking like only they poach employees from other companiesI mean it's a great thing, SMIC was 20 years behind in Chip fabbing, just a few years ago, now they are just 4 years behind TSMC and they have a mass production ARM 14nm and RISC-V 12nm Fabs.

along with 7nm DUV on line with a 5nm for 2023, it's really working wonders for them, without the need for Dutch ASML.

The latest Alibaba RISC-V is based on 12nm SMIC and has made huge strides for a brand new core based on a clean sheet ISA design.

TRUMPS Sanctions are a great gift for Chinese semi conductor industry.

Without Sanctions they wouldn't have bothered to make SMIC new process's and would have stuck with the old SMIC 120nm Fab.

But there's Intellectual property law to protect that as long they are not stealing the actual code, that's fine.

Chinese product issue is not about that, rather than government funding and interception, unethical business practice.

Headhunters are always contacting employees to try recruit them for positions with other companies. Don't think there is much unusual about that. It happens all the time in every country

I ore interested in what SMIC does, since they are the one who are fabbing RISC-V ALIBABA CHIPS.

And they have been making massive strides.

So, should all others countries come together to ravage & steal from China & then distribute it among their people, according to you, that will be okay, right?
