now i am forced to use android in my htc one x,because it is a very good phone, but i will return anytime to meego. my ex-nokia n9 was one of the best mobiles i ever had
they will not support Nokia's MeeGo devices. Jolla is an independent company supported by international and domestic investors. they will create their own MeeGo smartphones.
if jolla have enogh money to make its own device,it will have more units sold than nokia
I would like to see the other true and free OS Nokia Symbian Belle
I hope Nokia Belle and Carla will be open source also free and not /read, Android(Google] is staking you, copying your contact book in ansroid, archieving every gmail emails, archieve every tap on youtube etc
i hope other companies join in and create their own version of Meego just like what happen to Android
i tiny beacon of light now shines in my life, for MeeGo is not dead! :)
I'm happy about the news and would hope that jolla focuses on delivering a quality user-centered open platform and product. There's no need for 'iphone killer' or the next best thing. We should have more choices than what's in the marketplace at the moment. I don't understand why is total dominance in the marketplace is the goal of any of the competitors - if they lose marketshare they sack people. If it wasn't for this level of greed, Meego would have been on course and, I would have been able to buy a production N950 to replace my aging N900. I had an android phone as an intended replacement and i disliked (a) being forced to use a google account and, (b) having no proper way/native apps to backup my contacts, calendar and messages, especially after having to flash/hard-reset my phone due to malware/crap-ware from the play store. I have friends with iPhones and the restriction on sharing/copying pictures (and other multimedia content), the lack of flash player and other limitations makes me feel as if they don't really own the the phone. What else I am to do, but to keep my N900.
Jolly, please bring something like the N950 back!!
Nokia had such an awesome OS with themselves and they chose to go with windows...duh! I thought it was impossible to kick your ass yourself but Nokia just showed us its possible.
Excellent news! MeeGo deserves a new chance. Goodluck and hope for the best.
TheMan, 08 Jul 2012Simple question:
What is MeeGo percentage in market share?
Less than 1% = Dead OS
If you li... moremarket share of android is (assume) 50%.total pppppno. of android model 1000.
so calculation based on ur theory android is dead.
if single mobile can aquire 1% market share than android have to be something around 90. only true competitor is ios but it is in 6th stage n meego is in 1st stage.
so if u can calculate how meego will look in 6th stage than ur a genious
I wish i could be part of this but very good decision to support meego the exelent OS for Mobiles.
waiting meego device like N9 (once in a lifetime phone) to be launched in India too
Best of luck Jolla carry on....
earlier android users were saying nokia is a failed company but this is a slap on people who were saying that. I respect android platform but they sholuld also respect others. And respecting each other is called human otherwise whats the difference bet us and animals.
A reason to buy N9. I hope they will still continue supporting the N9.
well done jolla. i am happy with this news . please add whats app.
Ajay, 08 Jul 2012Now where are those fandroids and crapple boys, who said Meego is dead. Go Meego go. The most ... moreFirst I want to point out that I'm an ultimate fandroid.
Every true fandroid out there should welcome MeeGo, because it puts the word OPEN to its place.
Android --> Linux, but with some proprietary code.
MeeGo --> fully open Linux !
And open is good! :)
