They see some SD6xx and think "Wow mid-range device". No matter if it is SD636 for example, lol.
They based their opinion just on some incremental numbers, without digging deeper into the problem.
Also, if I will be in the market for a cheap Android phone, I will rather buy this One Plus, than a Lenovo, or a cheap Huawei, or a cheap Xiaomi phones.

Wow there are so much toxic here.
I'm don't have OnePlus phone but just from googling SD 460 is actually not bad for $200 phone. With 4 A73 and 4 A53 cores SD 460 is basically SD 665 which is a bit slow but still decent. Added big battery plus Oxygen OS optimization this phone could last 2 days or more, still pretty decent phone IMO.

One plus should remain in flagship level.

In this price range people are not really excited about Hydrogen OS. Rather it is a market of value for money. Given the history of one plus with bad cameras it will be very challenging for them to excel in this price range. Also let us not forget the one plus commitment of each phone to be launched with fluid display. It will be exciting though.

Anonymous, 28 Aug 2020The problem with that is that you can get a poco f1 on the used market for about 200usd. But, software wise, it will be stuck with whatever software it will have on it now. So, no future proof.
At least, this One Plus, even though a low-end model, will definitely receive 2 software updates (Android 11 and 12, or 12 and 13 if it will come shipped with 11 out of the box).

Of course, you have the Motorola G8 Power, which is a beast of a phone, when it comes to battery, also has stock Android. But sadly, this phone will more likely not receive anything beyond Android 10. So again, One Plus wins in this situation.
The same situation software wise with any low-end model from Samsung. Best case scenario, they will receive Android 11, that's it.

So, if you somehow want to be future proof, and also have a cheap smartphone, this One Plus is definitely worth considering. Or, you have the option of a second hand iphone (like iphone 7 or 8). Approximately the same prices.

I see a lot of oneplus fan boys justifying this very highly overpriced sh**. One plus is supposed to be a bang for buck brand. Not a premium pricing brand. These people mindwashed us slowly and gradually by increasing their price year on year. And now people are ok if they lauch a phone with snap 460 at 200 dollars.

HossDelgado, 28 Aug 2020Ahahah why would anyone in 2020 buu a snapdragon 4 series for 200$....wouldnt even pay 50$ for that Hey, there are people who pay for mediatek phones more than 100usd. Heck there are people who think mediatek phones are worth the price. With qualcomm you at least get aftermarket software development (bootloader unlock required). Even exynos chipsets have more aftermarket software support than mediatek. From a persons looking to spend their money where it counts perspective mediatek can be covered in gold, but no one will buy it where as the snapdragon phone can be made from dung but everyone will have it. The problem with qualcomm is monopoly, the problems with mediatek is inability to understand the market and cry because someone else has it better.
