Starting 2018,... moreWell, recent statistics show that they're actually selling much better this year than they did last year, in contrast to Samsung, which is depriving this year despite both facing the same pandemic situation.
Even in many stores where the phone is being sold, the stocks are always empty, which clearly means that people still think their phones are as good as any Samsung or Apple or Chinese phone.
And who told you that their innovation in the smartphone department has already ended? Majority of Chinese phones today are using Sony's Quad Bayer sensors, as well as the Omnidirectional AF function that they've introduced earlier this month and was already found immediately on the Find X2 Pro.
Heck, even Samsung has adopted the 21:9 display format of last year's Xperia 1 with the latest Galaxy Z Flip, and even though it's not an innovation, the influence is still evident right here.
Most of what Sony brought to the table are still being used by a lot of manufacturers to their products. The IP rating alone already says everything about what you need to know.

I doubt Photo Pro wouldn't be present here, considering they're emphasizing this phone the same way that they're doing with the 1 II, which is relating to the Sony A9 II in terms of camera prowess.
What wouldn't make sense here is the presence of a 120Hz display, unless of course there's something that they're gonna do to have the same thing on the 1 II, or perhaps it wouldn't be here at all.

Our eyes are now on Samsung, Apple and Huawei for the standardization. Sony has finished their standardization.

10ii will get android 11.
L4 may remain with 9.
Samsu g is doing that because they sell much more and make much more money.
So they are in position to do it.
I use android 7.1.1.
I do all I want on the phone.
Google Play will keep workimg probably until 2028.

I love sony brand because im a playstation 1~4 owner. I like the the aspect of xperia phone but the pricing is out of reach in my country. I'll wait 1 year after the 5 ii launched to get a good deal to replace my xz1.

Too bad sony is learning from other OEM the stupid habit of keeping all good stuff just for main/bigger phone.
This,one was supposed to be just a smaller 1080p version of 1ii, not stripped down features version. No ToF, no photo pro, design is the same of 10ii .
I'd rather pay $1100 and have everything 1ii has except the 4K screen, than paying maybe $850-900 for much lower level phone.
