So I'm assuming they chose that price because others have gotten away with it

Still no info about india launch, ... moreActually it’s already confirmed by Google and on their official site that the Pixel 4a is launching in India in October.. I myself am waiting for it and even Flipkart has already set up a landing page for it which you’ll find easily when you search for Pixel 3a on it. Also, the Pixel 3a series has already gone out of stock here so the launch is inevitable. The 4a already has a dedicated page on the Google store Indian website. It’s just a matter of revealing the pricing and the exact launch date, which I’m sure they’ll reveal by the end of this month or early next month.

At a release this late, I could understand prices of 300,- for Pixel 4a, 450,- for Pixel 4a 5G and 500,- for Pixel 5. Anything else is not realistic, given the specs of these devices. Google should google "value for money" or "insane". Who is willing to pay this amount of cash for midtier 2019-tech at the end of 2020? Puuhh.

Google continues to lose their loyal fan base and the Pixel 5 is probably the straw that broke the camel's back. The 2XL was great, my current 3XL is great and was planning on upgrading to the 4XL but they discontinued it so I said I'll wait for the 5XL. I guess I will just have to go with the oneplus 8 5g which has a current flagship chipset, in display fingerprint scanner, bezeless display, IP rated, rapid charge, and a large battery all while being cheaper than any previous pixel. The 5 is a midrange phone, that's what the 4a et al are for. No flagship phone or specs from one of the biggest companies on earth. Low hanging fruit, no thanks.

Most of all the recorder app that helps whit school and college
A safety app that is reliable
And security updates every month whit feature drops that keep the phone fresh every 3 months and let's not forget first in line to major android updates and most likely to any new product offer by Google or new service
And camera updates since it's all software/ computational fotography that could be used by older pixels and updates that could be offer to older pixels.

Most people will pass this as usual for better phones in this price bracket like OnePlus 8, Poco F2 pro, LG V60, Samsung Galaxy S20, Zenfone 7, etc.
It won't even sell that well in US as people will buy 5.4 inch model of iPhone 12 over this.

In the day that Google launches a very competitive phone for the entire world in that day all OEMs will dump Google Play Store and Google framework. Pixels are made to compete, but to test different version of software and apps from Google. They already steal ideas from OEMs apps or settings from skins in the new versions of Android, but launching a series of phones to really compete will take them under. That's why Samsung, Xiaomi, bbk etc, they have their own store or support others stores.

Anonymous, 04 Sep 2020The high-end chipsets cost too much now, QC have put their prices up.Which explains why so many vendors are using Mediatek Dimensity 1000+ now. It's a very good performing chipset and it is much cheaper than Qualcomms stuff.
