If you are talking about chinese ROM, first you can install the global rom as soon as they release any, and second, even if you stay with chinese rom you can install GMS, the whole google apps and services are always ready in a package..

Anonymous, 05 Sep 2020Not having a selfie is not such a good idea during these pandemic times.Yes it is, since most peoples are at home where they have computer and tablet who are way better at doing video call than smartphones because of the superior display, and because less time exposing your intimacy at home by having no face spying hardware pointed at you while you use your phone.

I don't know, maybe because A LOT of peoples actually want phones without those (even in this fresh comment section you can already find 3 of us), and because releasing SOME models doesn't mean releasing ALL models without front camera, because there is clearly a market to justify it, unlike the removal of the Jack which isn't an intrusive tech forcing to butcher the display and having been proven to spy on the users ?

This is cool, but it's a shame that pop--up solution like the Oppo Find X didn't catch on. Having both front and rear cameras unexposed you'd never have to worry about damaging them, nor smudges! Considerabke thickness notwithstanding, it was only 186 g, too.

, my phone has a glass back so I can turn it, see my face in the rear glass easily then tapping the volume button easily and it's gonna be miles miles miles better than a selfie and with all rear cameras

Anonymous, 05 Sep 2020Stupid as it might sounds, I would pay extra for not having selfie camera.This isn't stupid, there are as many reasons to want one than to not want one, this is just so different from the established norm that peoples can't comprehend it, nor they realize that there is a market for this as there are many peoples in our situation :

They think that because for some peoples it is impossible to do what they want without a front camera that it apply to everyone, and that because there isn't any phone with no front camera nor any replacement for it (like a second display on the back like the Nubia Z20) it mean it there is no reasons to do it, while totally ignoring the facts that there are replacements/way to compensate the absence of front camera and that there is many user requests, some highly popular, that could lead to entire sub-market that are also ignored.
Sadly we need to fight for having a chance to get our device type possible, many will stupidly comment about "selfies" and "video call" while totally ignoring the fact that a huge amount of peoples don't do any of those, nor that we can perfectly do selfies and video call without front camera with existing solutions, even suggesting the eventual possibility of the likeliness that you might potentially have some probable desires to maybe want ONE smartphone model to be made without front camera is enough to see idiots criticizing this as if you were forcing them to remove all front camera from any future devices and render those on existing one unusable...
Plus, if we got forced to use dongles and wireless options for the 3.5mm Jack, despite some own 400€+ Jack headset and want to use it while charging their phones, I don't see why it shouldn't or wouldn't happen to the front camera as well.

Not gonna lie though, I would buy a "budget" phone with a side-mounted fingerprint reader, no front camera, basically the S10e or an iPhone (in terms of design) without the notch.
("budget" because we all know they'll charge even more for each feature they remove)

Mi 10 Ultra is the best value flagship right now if you can get it and are fine without GMS. At just$ $799, you get incredible screen, performance, charging, cameras, design. Even the 16 GB/512 GB version only costs $999. Xiaomi just redefined what an Ultra phone should be. This is what Xiaomi should have done with the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro. Oneplus, Huawei, Samsung, other brands especially Apple need to up their standards to remain competitive.
