The market isn't big enough for every smartphone maker to in-house every component, and it would be incredibly wasteful if they did. Just imagine all of the chip fabs, PCB, and machining factories sitting idle each year once their projected sales target of in-house parts were finished, and the massive hiring and layoff sprees.

    Okaman , 06 Sep 2020Kirin chipset good. Kirin 980 = sd 855, kirin 990= sd 865-855+. Im so :(kirin is ok , but those two examples , is not even close to the snapdragon units , the mali let's it down big time.

Many companies are collecting our data on a daily basis. Either people don't know or are deflecting/diverting the blame unto other countries.

It's about technological supremacy which the US has lost its edge. Although Samsung is still important for US (provides parts like displays, etc.) nothing guarantees its immunity from being on the US chopping board whenever deemed necessary.
                      It is interesting to read how the US butchered Toshiba and more recently Alstom. With Huawei I believe the US will fail in its attempt to bring the company down.
