For example, without chinese OEMs you have paid to Samsung a hand and a leg for a midrange phone.

In 2015, I had to pay Rs 250 for just 1 GB data (that too with crappy speeds), then add to it a plan that gives talktime, say Rs 50, and then a booster pack for reducing the call cost, that would be around Rs 30. All this for just about 28 days. Jio was revolutionary for India's telecom industry, bringing never-before 4G accessible to the masses. Today every Indian operator is giving at least 1 GB per day because of Jio.
Anonymous, 13 Sep 2020True, lucky for them father of india Ambani is coming with a 80$ Android phone for them Wow. Coming from someone who owns a $30 phone, that's brash.

hopefully as it becomes more popular as time goes on the price may come down a bit.

ethereal, 12 Sep 2020If you are really into dual screens, just get the LG G8x for 1/3 the price, and thank me later... moreLG G8x is a piece of crap. You cannot compare it with this. Try using it with Dual screen setup, the battery life is horrible.
Of course, so is Duo now.
Anonymous, 13 Sep 2020True, lucky for them father of india Ambani is coming with a 80$ Android phone for them Ambani is just a business man, hes not father of India, Indian Phone market was very competitive with 10 to 15 Service providers before this Amabani came in and destroyed all businesses. Now there are only 4 or 5 left so no real competition.

Pixel hardly sells here as better phones with flagship grade hardware are available at those prices.
[deleted post]India's population is over 1.3 Billion. Even 0.5% of them are interested in buying this, it's more than US and Europe together. That's the reason all major OEM's launched their phones in India even before US and Europe.
[deleted post]True, lucky for them father of india Ambani is coming with a 80$ Android phone for them
In India value for money is the most important criteria...price is the most attractive point here...that being said ,there are a lot of buyers here too for this premium phone...won't be surprised seeing people holding this in a 5 star suite
[deleted post]Here in India expect samsung to sell 5000-10000 fans at best
[deleted post]Indian market is bigger than us and Europe combined... They'll sell out there, don't worry. Though I doubt they care about your bratslavia or something where you could get a house for 2k USD..
Indian market is complicated. Following are the buyers across the market -
- Buyers who want secure, productive and efficient mobiles ( Apple and Blackberry)
- Buyers who are tencho savy ( Apple, Pixels)
- Buyers who want to show off that they keep latest and best phones , specially Samsung Note series with stylus ( Samsung and Apple)
- Buyers who want everything mentioned above balanced but want to pay less than premium( Samsung and One plus)
- Buyers who think of affordable balance (Xiaomi)- Buyers who want tons of features, flashy designs at cheap prices and still want to look premium ( OPPO VIVO REALME Samsung )
- Buyers who feel indian products are capable of competent ( Micromax)
And something which runs common across most of above mentioned buyers is - After sales services have to be available only then it's a good product.
So surely this product will find buyers in India.
I am glad they didn't price it more than what they are charging internationally.
There is good demand for this phone here in India.
Premium piece of tech right there. Best foldable device currently.
Total head turning device right there.
Isn't meant for people who can't afford it.
[deleted post]I'm not Indian but I also care about price/performance ratio. This foldable phone costs a lot more while offering the same performance as a normal flagship phone. I understand that once unfolded, I'll have a larger display to interact with, but I'm not sure if the larger display is worth the price premium.

They are looking for a device to separate themselves from the pack. So no way they will buy a LG non foldable phone as a substitute.
