Andreidinutu, 14 Sep 2020I'm not ignorant, I'm happy we get exynosYou don't know the difference between process node and architecture, yet you keep commenting nonsense. Samsung Semiconductor is not Samsung Mobile. Samsung Mobile designs the chip and Semiconductor manufactures it. That's all there is to it!

This news probably also means that Samsung will avoid Exynos for Flagships (and mid year phones?) next year. Which is great news.
Which means the Exynos 1000 can be comfortably pushed back by 6-12 months to make it laptop grade, just like the Apple A-line of processors (in the iPhones).

Okay so what is the plan here to manufacture the Qualcomm chips so they will match closer to Exynos so Samsung will not look bad? If these was made at TSMC it would be far ahead! Worse yet this gives Apple, Huawei(until ban takes full effect) & Mediatek a edge over Qualcomm I fail to see any advantage of making more power hungry chips... (maybe Qualcomm gets discount from Samsung in exchange of Samsung gets discount for using more of their chips?)

Last time Samsung manufactured Qualcomm's flagship chipset was almost 4 years ago, Snapdragon 835. They also manufactured Apple A9 sharing orders with TSMC and that was 5 years ago. TSMC has been leading the foundry business since 10nm, beating Intel. Even in the same 7nm process, TSMC is more efficient than Samsung.

The only reason to go with Samsung instead of TSMC is pricing and that seems to be the case for this and also why all of Qualcomm's non-flagship chipsets are manufactured by Samsung. What I hope that doesn't happen is Samsung hoarding it like they did with Snapdragon 835.
