You get big ram for MORE background processes for apps and system. It doesn't freaking matter how much the free ram is. If it isn't lagging or closing apps aggressively, don't complain about free ram.

I think MediaTek's Helio G25 is a good processor for an entry- level budget phone like the Redmi 9i

AnonD-945200, 15 Sep 2020a compact phone from chinese brands is like a dream wichs never gonna happen 😐 Yes, they don't risk innovation fearing huge losses. So they will follow tried and tested formula and the one which works. This is actually sad. No wonder, they are making profits.

But the problem is the company itself make huge OS software for the phone, whatever they add on the system all use up RAM and storage. They even add huge inbuilt useless app that consume storage as well RAM. Nowadays 6GB RAM phone is like 2GB RAM phone old days because old phone only has max upto 8GB OS consume less RAM.
My 2GB RAM samsung out of the box only 8GB storage used by system out of 16GB and 1GB RAM available. My phone is smooth as other phone able to run same apps as new phone.
Nowadays company make more RAM and storage just for themself to install useless inbuilt apps and ads and bloatware and left only remaining 2GB RAM usable which only profit them from their ads and useless inbuilt apps.

My OnePlus 7T with 8GB RAM on average has about 4GB RAM in use at all time for system processes even with all apps closed. Modern apps and system apps always do a lot of intelligent stuff in the background that makes your phone more snappy and responsive than it could be otherwise.

More storage & RAM? What is the use of RAM when 2GB RAM is enough to run one apps at a time. Multitasking does not mean that we open 10 apps at a time, actually we close every apps in our phone never let apps stay in background for battery saver. We only use sometimes max 3 apps in background because opening apps is faster nowadays no need to keep background. I think sd865 with 3GB RAM will still perform it's duty. iPhone has small RAM but perform same or better than android with higher RAM.

Redmi Confusion, 15 Sep 2020This is ridiculous, mediocre phones to flood the market. Don't these guys learn from HTC?At least unlike HTC, Xiaomi actually makes great value products that's very consumer-friendly.
They can sell just one straight model for the entire year, while Xiaomi and Realme could confuse the consumers with many different variation of similar phones, but at the end of the day, both would still outsell that one HTC phone purely because of ridiculous pricing.

Samsung's mid range lineup is also quite streamlined and pretty straightforward, yet people are choosing these Xiaomi and Realme phones over those "non-redundant lineup" of Sammy.

Poco X3 has already been sold out here in my country in less than a day after it went on sale. Goodluck trying to do that with a similarly-priced Samsung phone.

In fact, they're actually beating Apple already and just behind Samsung today.

Smartphone lineup doesn't matter when the products themselves are excellent in value.
Poco X3 has just been launched in my country, and it already went sold out for less than a day. Meanwhile, a similarly-priced Samsung Galaxy phone would barely get out of stock even after 3 months from first sale.

Both Redmi and Realme are becoming crazy. What's the need of having so many phones? There's no standing feature which differentiates a specific model from others of almost same price. Redmi went an extra step and introduced Poco phones which are nothing but Redmi phones with a different name.
