A14 easely beats any intel midrange cpu on laptops :)As always, Apple ARM chips are very fast, but that doesn't do us any good because iPads can't run real professional software, except a few tinker toys like Photoshop or video editors, which nobody in their right mind would prefer to run on an iPad.

My gut says Apple's 1st 5 nm SoC will have better battery life than Qualcomm's 1st 5 nm SoC.

Apple gives to Air, Mini and regular ipad same cpu from iphones... moreNot quite, the A12Z is a variant of the A12X used the previous year, however the A13 is already 30% faster than the A12 - so an A14 is somewhere above it as well.
It's just odd how Apple updates the iPad Air with the latest A* chip but leaves the iPad Pro behind (a premium pro product that's now slower than a premium consumer device).

C'mon now. Kill.the 32GB already. Start from 128 GB. Imagine the limitations when you buy a 32GB tablet. Horrible!

Definitely tempted with the new A14 chipset, but the omission of 3.5mm audio jack in the new iPad Air is a turn off for me considering that this is a tablet. Since the vanilla iPad also ditch Lighting for the USB-C port and still retain the audio jack port, that will be the one I go for.
