Anonymous, 17 Sep 2020Motion Blur Reduction goes up to 240Hz too. Not only the touch response. You mean black frame insertion.
Anonymous , 17 Sep 2020The X5 || cost the same as the OP8 pro minus the annoying curved screen and lack of features l... moreYes, OP8Pro excels on camera department over upcoming Xperia 5 II. Curved screen isn't necessarily annoying. Actually it helps with gestures / swiping, gives modern look to phone, makes the phone slimmer even if it actually isn't. Also I believe that Oxygen OS is faster and better that Sony's almost pure Android. OP8Pro charges much faster. Finally, who needs 3.5 mm jack in 2020? That's an archaism. I dropped the wires 3 years ago and will never come back to them. So, OP8Pro is still the king!

The slide out display model teased looks like another jackless one.
Shui8, 17 Sep 2020They just use that 'content creator' just for that specific Xperia review.
In oth... moreWhy wouldnt they?
Only 1 II officialy offers integrated Pro apps for actual photo/video content creation.
Missing an integrated editor tho, but cant remember if Sony actually has one even in proffesional space.
Others do not, have basic camera apps filled with computational features, need an extra cost app from store like FilmicPro to have more controll, etc...
Well except LG, LG offers also a wide range of Pro controls, just doesnt have dedicated apps
Shanti Dope, 17 Sep 2020Their front cameras live inside a giant punch hole, so they could easily make the sensor large... moreThat's why I mentioned P30 too. You might want to take a look at it in store if possible to see how small that teardrop notch is, and remember its sensor is 1/2.8" large.
I also looked at the selfie samples in GSMArena as well, I would say the image quality is decent but only on small displays and they look pretty oversharpened. It's one area where Sony should do a better job at next time.
VectorR, 17 Sep 2020Completely agree with it. I played with OP 8 Pro for a week. Only positive impressions from it... moreThe X5 || cost the same as the OP8 pro minus the annoying curved screen and lack of features like 3.5 mm jack.
Is camera the only thing that OP8 excels in? Because if yes - that's not a big win.
iOS Never Again, 17 Sep 2020Do you really believe creators are buying the Xperia 1 II? Good joke!
Real Creators hardly us... morecnet made one... i forgot the title of its short movie... but, here is the thing... those wanting to be a "small time" content creator can at least create one that is decent... hr vex for one, who already made amazing short clips...
and another good thing is editing on a 4k oled display with 1B colors...

Shanti Dope, 17 Sep 2020NO. Just NO.
The sensor slows down in the downsampling and debayering process, even if it... moreBinning is NOT downsampling. The former is done purely on hardware level, whereas downsampling is a software trick to construct a highly detailed low resolution image from a high resolution one. The fact that the REGULAR Galaxy S20 with a very similar main sensor as Xperia 1 II does not boast such a capability suggests that Xperia 1 II can do it because Sony most likely specifically optimised their sensor and increased the bandwidth of its CSI lanes, on top of the fact that they used focusing technology they had as a camera manufacturer.
"why haven't we seen similar technique used in a proper digital camera?"
Because the use cases of dedicated cameras are very much different from those of smartphone cameras? Well to be fair, Sony did recently release full frame QB sensor for other manufacturers, but most photographers are not exactly interested in HDR preview (which is a thing on a mobile phone space) and are definitely not a fan of full resolution images with tons of remosaicing artifacts. When the sensor is so huge you're good with a high MP regular Bayer sensor because the pixel size is sufficiently large.
"as if they were to really do that for a sensor that they would use on their $1500 phone"
Uh, excuse me? Focusing problem? Poorer 8K recording quality compared to the regular S20? That sensor was full of problem though Samsung managed to mitigate some of them through software updates. And you can check GN1's spec sheet to see how it has a faster readout speed than HM1.
Also there's no way to deny that it would have been more logical for Sony to compare IMX557 to S20's IMX555 given their almost identical specs-on-paper, but they rather picked the slower sensor to make their phone appear nicer. Did you know that S20 Ultra cannot even record 960fps slow mo whereas cheaper S20 can? That definitely should tell you something.
Anonymous, 17 Sep 2020Would be ok if it did not have the horrible aspect ratio .18:9, 18,5:9, 19:9, 19,5:9 and 20:9 are no industry standard.
Nothing uses these ratios.
Fearghast, 17 Sep 2020You mean Samsung technology as it it will be another Oled made by Samsung :D
Sony technology ... moreSo we finally we acknowledge Sony as best smartphone camera, as those proclaimed the best are all made by Sony.
Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi camera technologies... what laughable terms.
Android.Master, 17 Sep 2020I am actually shocked to see no Sony Guys complaining about HRR consuming more battery here or... moreIt will have worse numbers than xperia 5 when review comes out.
Compared to 60Hz mode (if phone allows to use, no words so far), for sure shall use way more power. Exactly like S20 series, Find X2 Pro and OP8 Pro. All using 15-30% more for 120Hz mode.
Samsung tried to copy Sharp making it go down to 1Hz for static image, but failed miserably on Note 20 Ultra. Did not work ....
Would be ok if it did not have the horrible aspect ratio .
Everything is great about the features except for the battery charger. The the phone width is too narrow at 68mm. Don't think it's a good viewing experience. The price too will also need to come into consideration.

iOS Never Again, 17 Sep 2020Some cheap small time Youtubers might use smartphone with gimball for content creation.
But ... moreSee, thats where you go bias now.
Them are "superbiased" you claim, and Fischer is "superunbiased" is he?
I didnt even claim Fischer is bias, just doesnt appreciate what 1 II offers to him, as he is not into real photography nor videography... He is just a smartphone product reviewer.
Those other guys, like Bagnell, are into real photography/audiophily, heck he even wrote a book on it, and gave all accolades for what 1 II actually offers for photography enthusiasts.
If you value Fischers opinions, well, no need to debate further, as you too will never appreciate what Sonys Photo and Cinema Pros offer in value, no matter what I or those "other" YTbers say, you ll just claim it as bias.
For a small phone person like me this is the no compromise small android phone. Used to go for galaxy S but this year even they were quite big
Android.Master, 17 Sep 2020I am actually shocked to see no Sony Guys complaining about HRR consuming more battery here or... moreI still won't care for 60+ on my phone as the battery life take priority over smoother scrolling.
Hopefully Sony won't be ... Sony as usual ... and actually will allow its users to force 60Hz.
But it all comes to half-a$$ed implementation, because proper Sync implementation can save battery, not drain it faster.
Tann Hauser, 17 Sep 2020Yes, some yt reviewers are actual content creators. Have you on other hand even looked any oth... moreThey just use that 'content creator' just for that specific Xperia review.
In other reviews, they still using an actual camera. Professionals that are 'content creator' already has an actual camera to begin with, not by using a smartphone lol.
Both Xperia 1ii & 5ii is an awesome phone though.
