It does 4K because of 12MP, not size.
You can make a 1/5" with 20MP and offer 5K video.

Xperia 1, 5, 1 II are using the same sensor, Xperia 5 II won't be any different.

It cannot fit the 13MP 1/3" anymore.
You can give congratulations to everyone that have spent years complaining about bezels.
You now choose between crappy front cam or screen without cutouts.

That 5MP used by ... morecoz that 13MP cameras had a large 1/3 inch sensor and autofocus lens.
The problem with that tiny 8MP sensors is they cannot shoot 4K videos.
it's a shame they are downgrading their selfie cameras.

Now they are using 1/4 inch sensor with fixed focus lens.
There is no excuses for using cheaper cameras with their huge forhead. Even the iPhone have better af lens and 4K60 recording in their notch with the other sensors for face id.
IF they cannot add a better camera or a face authentication, then why should they had that huge forhead in late 2020?

When Sony brought 13MP front cam with M5/C5 ppl said it was not necessary.
That 5MP used by other flagships were enough.
Now same ppl complain about being 8.

Apart from the front camera (which i rarely use to begin with), everything else in this 5ii is awesome.
Its there with the top dogs, with some features that no other phone has.

Better details than S20 Ultra (surprisingly) but fails in everything else (DR, classic Sony overblown highlights, weird color cast emerge in certain situation).
P40 Pro front facing camera are the one to beat. Excellent.

Sorry but i'm using my smartphone (XZ2C) as a communication device, not a console, a camera or whatever gimmick.
When texting, how i am supposed to use a keyboard on such elongated device? Just have a choice between a compressed or an overstretched keyboard. Brilliant!
Can't use it with one hand, doesn't fit in my pocket. Useless.

Only google with their image processing can get away... moreWhatGear has already compared the front cameras of the 1 II to the S20 Ultra and P40 Pro+, and still it performed comparably well, sometimes even better than the others.
It's definitely not as terrible as you try to think of it.
