YUKI93, 20 Sep 2020There is, wireless charging is present on this phone.no wireless charging on 5ii... if it is a deal breaker for you, get the 1ii... that is if you are willing to handle 6.5inch phone vs 6.1inch, not that significant really... or if you prefer 4k@60hz over fhd@120hz...
i prefer the bigger one since i have wireless charging powerbank and prefer the 4k@60hz being a long time user of z5 premium...
you really have to choose... that is what we need, diversified phones...

Oppaii, 20 Sep 2020Idk whats wrong. Its obvious a lot of people on the internet loves Sony and yet Sony barely so... moreBecause they're all just talk. They probably are users of cheap Xiaomi/Realme anyway.

I am hardcore, diehard fan and cult follower of Z Ultra, Xperia Ray n few other Xperia phones. But these Xperia 5 xx to me are nothing more than XA2 Ultra done right. Every tom dickle harry is milking ppl even in this time of covid difficulty just by slapping 5g chip in it. I am sad that sony is doing same. A tip-off/hack i want to share is whenever sony releases a phone with back cameras arrangement in middle of back then be understood it is just a half cooked customer milking version and a proper version with cameras arrangement on left side for proper technocratic look is to follow suit milking same customer twice. This happened to xa2 ultra too and countless many other examples in xperia xz3/1/5/8/10 etc. 2nd tactic to milk customers twice/thrice is to make later sequel thicker (weak battery versions is also but manageable tactic) .. xa ultra was best phone (though weak battery) then sequel xa2 ultra was made thicker than xa and xa1 because it was finale of this series and with very capable guts it was planted with thickness and back camera centering turnoffs so the new series x/xa/x-performance could be milked using same sine wave of defect cycle. Riding this since wave..today its been 4+ years that i am waiting for proper technocratic budget phone like XA-Ultra but L,XZ,10,10ii,10plus,8,8Lite all have that same sine-wave defects cycle/rotation. So being fan and hanging for 4+ years i today want to request sony that their are people out there who know this and even then hanging in there in love that its never too late... plz 4+ years is too much; stop people to jump off to Samsung Note 9 like alternates .. its A grade (not A+) is available in good budget price. Another grievance in closing of this post is that for past 2+ years with every xperia announcement .. media is fed with rumors that this time (hang in their) a budget phone is bundled in announcement but either only flagship is announced (or at max this defect-sine-wave riding crap like L-series(tear-drop-cam)/10/10plus/10ii/8/8Lite) are announced. Plz stop slapping 5g everywhere, release 4g/4g+/tweaked budget phones with all/most check boxes ticked like u did 4+ years back with XA Ultra.
        Thank you.

Well almost perfect. Except for the lack of wireless charging, because Sony loves removing features from cheaper flagships.

I will not buy a flagahip without at least 4500 mAh battery.
the rest of specs are quite appealing.

YUKI93, 20 Sep 2020There is, wireless charging is present on this phone.Numerous sources cite that there's no wireless charging on this phone, even the specifications page on GSMA does not mention it so I guess it's indeed not present, but it's not a deal breaker at all, I'm a fan already, but just to correct you there, wireless charging is absent in this. Still a spectacular phone though

Funny you say that. I never use Sony phone in my whole life and never been a big fan of that brand. But this particular Sony phone definitely captured my heart and attention. At $950, it actually cost about the same as the Samsung Galaxy S20+ here in Malaysia. But if you give me the choice between the Samsung or the Sony, I'll take the Japanese brand smartphone all day long... easily.

Cheap Chinese phones will not last so long as Sony. I had my Sony phone for 7 years and it was still working. I have feeling these Chines manufactures just want to make quick bucks they do not care what will happen with your phone in 5 or 7 years and are they water resistant?

Futsu, 20 Sep 2020No wireless charging with this price though...Yes you are right but it is because Sony chose to put cooling element at the back of 5 (Mark ii) phone to prevent the phone from overheating so unfortunately it can not be wirelessly charged as it was designed for gaming not like 1 (Mark ii) for photography. It is make sense. What is more important to save the battary from overheating or wirelessly charge it?
