AnonD-909757, 20 Sep 2020I talked about the small USB to 3.5mm Jack adapter, not the big external DAC that I don't... moreI have right here Apple adapter, iBasso one, Xduoo, Dragonfly (the OG one) and Tempotec Sonata HD Pro - I simply wanted to test them as far as super portable DACs go - IMHO they are quite small and usualy dirt cheap.
They certainly are not convinient and more often than not I forgot them at home, but they are a viable solution to a problem that many manufactuteres (including Sony on my personal phone) introduced.
IMHO best phone is jack (with perfect support for external mics), no notch, decent snapper and compact design ;) So you can guess I am liking Xperia 5 II a lot (it's not really compact, but still managable).
Nothing New, 20 Sep 2020UD fingerprint ? So you care about look more than function and considered as feature , i disag... moreOP8 Pro is mostly better than S20 or Xperia 5 II, but it's a larger phone, so it's not really an option for people who want smaller phones.
You know what's funny though? The fact that S20 & Xperia 5 II are considered small phones now. Real compact phones are entirely missing from the market.
The only thing it's laking is the lower price but even there it is only 900$ which is pretty good for a flagship
Nothing New, 20 Sep 2020UD fingerprint ? So you care about look more than function and considered as feature , i disag... moreI forgot about zoom thing , Samsung doesn't even have proper one so you can't call it telephoto
Whackcar, 20 Sep 2020There's nothing special about this phone. You can get an S20 for cheaper with more featur... moreUD fingerprint ? So you care about look more than function and considered as feature , i disagree here maybe you mean it works better and 8k video ? It is not even acceptable let alone great there are even smartphones that records 4k with higher bitrate than samsung does with 8k , for rest i agree but a lot of countries has exynos version so it is overall worse phone
If you really want good device then go with 8 pro instead it
Like many flagships these days, it's the perfect phone that I can't afford
Idk whats wrong. Its obvious a lot of people on the internet loves Sony and yet Sony barely sold there phones...
Whackcar, 20 Sep 2020There's nothing special about this phone. You can get an S20 for cheaper with more featur... moreS20 isn't smaller than xperia 5 mk 2. It's a little short but overall size,Sony's smaller.
Whackcar, 20 Sep 2020There's nothing special about this phone. You can get an S20 for cheaper with more featur... moreAre you aware that at 70mm, photos takes by 64MP of s20 end up equal to 8,37MP quality?
Also, if you use digital zoom for video, you no longer have 4K.
2x zoom makes 4K into 1080 already.
Even if you set 8K and apply digital zoom to match 70mm, footage will be 3K only.
Whackcar, 20 Sep 2020There's nothing special about this phone. You can get an S20 for cheaper with more featur... moreGood luck watching 8K content you shoot. Samsung's 8k recording turned out to be a failure like mkbhd and others mentioned. I'd choose 4k 120fps recording over 8k anyday, xperia's dope back camera, incredible shutterspeed, gaming features, HS power stabilization features, oled display with sony's award winning X1 ultimate oled processor, highly acclaimed Audio profiles like 360 reality audio and DSEE ultimate AI upscaling, eye autofocus, upto 120 hz screen refresh rate, Front facng stereo speakers, headphone Jack make it leaguies ahead of S20 ultra.
Dometalican, 20 Sep 2020You know why? Because Sony pulled the same dumb stunt in that the 5 mark ii is only a 4G phone... moreAll other 5G phones sold in USA are sub6/mmWave.
1ii and 5ii are just sub6.
Sub6 in USA is barely found yet.
Also, sony sells unlocked.
Most get phones from carrier.
To them, the extra costs are not worth.
TheArtist, 20 Sep 2020Nice phone by Sony. They just need to release more smartphones at diverse price points to rega... moreXperia 5 is $600 at the moment.
Why bother to big a midrange that would be more expensive than 10ii if you could buy X5 for similar price?
There's nothing special about this phone. You can get an S20 for cheaper with more features (Snapdragon version)
S20 is smaller than this, and it offers 1)wireless charging 2)1440p display 3) Better telephoto camera 4) 8K video recording 5) 32-bit/384kHz audio 6) UD fingerprint 7) 25w fast wired charging 8) reverse wireless charging
On the other hand, Xperia 5 II has only a 3.5 jack to brag about.
And no, I'm not a Samsung fan at all. I'm just making a factual comparison.
Anonymous, 20 Sep 2020Why would you need 120fps for 4K video xD. Even 60fps feels unnatural to me.Are you daft? Higher fps is better, 60 is a good start but 120 is the way forward. Hopefully society will stop the whole "it's unnatural" or "it's making me nauseous". It's idiotic to think that way about something which mimics real life.
Fearghast, 20 Sep 2020Every USB DAC is compatible with every device, no matter if it runs Android, iOS, Windows, Lin... moreI talked about the small USB to 3.5mm Jack adapter, not the big external DAC that I don't know anyone who use it on smartphones for obvious size reasons and that can't just be called "dongle" but rather "non amplified USB sound card" would be more fitting.
Using those on laptop or even tablets why not, but I can't imagine anyone but a really small niche who use it on smartphones, so no jack mean most users will be forced to use the inferior and non inter-brands compatible dongle that is already provided, because of the removing of a useful port that have no reasons to be removed.
External USB DAC aren't prevented from existing or being used by the Jack anyway, so it can't be used as an excuse to justify removing the Jack as the Jack is still superior to other cheap dongles, USB ear/head phones and Bluetooth ear/head phones.
Plus, when the USB port itself will start to get removed, (because the trend is headed that way if we lets the Jack being removed) it wouldn't even allow those USB DAC to be used.
So better not justify removing the Jack anyway, as many other things, diversity and keeping non invasive features (things that you have to deal with if you don't want to use them, like notches, punch holes or curved displays) on the phones except when better alternatives (better in every ways possible not just few) exist such as switching from LCD or Oled to GIMOD (graphene displays) when they will be available.
no wireless charging is quite a letdown
I wish this sony xperia is mine. Sony has been my dream phone but impossible to get due to funds and economy here in Nigeria. It's well. I wish few wishes do come to pass. It's well. I also love sony cos of Michael Jackson.
Love you Sony
Yeah better with
Exynos crap
Crap design
Shitty cameras
Ancient 15 watt charging
Average battery life
😆😆
Tann Hauser, 20 Sep 2020Yes I am arguing because your point is irrelevant to the subject of phone having 3,5 mm jack.
... moreIt's a cumbersome solution to bad decision not to include headphone jack on many phones.
But there is catch of quality as only good solution is offered by LG and others that actualy care for quality (even slightly), that integrated one in Sony is just ... average at best.
When you compare average at best and LDAC ... it's not so black and white anymore.
Fearghast, 20 Sep 2020You are arguing buying external DAC that cost 5-30$ when you are getting what ... 1000-1400€ p... moreYes I am arguing because your point is irrelevant to the subject of phone having 3,5 mm jack.
And also I was reffering to simple inbox usb to jack dongles people get with some flags without jacks.
You irrelevated it yourself just below, extra cost USB DAC dongles anyone can buy extra, are compatible with any device.
And yes, if Id want it Id buy it for 30 for Xp 5 II, cause its nothing compared to 900 for the phone.
But I dont want or need it, its a cumbersome extra dongle, and 3,5 mm jack on a phone is a better option, especially if its the inbox simpletone one you get with the phone that equals to lower quality audio.
